Bottle shared by Leighton at Croydonia tasting. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasty, liquorice, wood, sweet vanilla, coconut and booze. The taste is roasted malt, toast, cocoa, earth, liquorice, ash, caramel, toffee, vanilla and alcohol. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Well-integrated and pretty tasty. Perhaps a touch boozy, but not too shabby at all.

2009 vintage, bottle #250 - Pours pitch black with a bubbly light brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, chocolate, licorice and cocoa. Taste is malty, roasty and strong with licorice notes, herbs and alcohol. Finish is warming and strong with licorice and roasty notes. Okay, quite malty and strong imperial stout.

27,5 cl bottle vintage 2009 @ olio. Bottle #250, production date 01/2009, BBE 07/2014.
Aroma has soy sauce, some salty licorice and hints of coffee. Flavour has soy sauce, some fruity notes, salty licorice and herbs. Also some vanilla and bourbon notes, which make me wonder if this has been in a barrel. Quite thin and straightforward for this style and ABV, gets better towards the end of the glass though.

Bottle at ChrisO Snow tasting, thanks to Chris, 20/01/13. Extremely dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head. Nose carries dark malts, dark fruits, light sugars, molasses, touch of booze. Taste comprises dark fruits, booze, raisens, dark malt, figs, molasses, spice. Full bodied, soft carbonation, boozey finish. Decent enough stuff.

Bottle from Beers of Europe, King’s Lynn
Brewed March 2012; bb November 2015; bottle 164/1600
Black color, with medium sized brown head, creamy, but reducing quite quickly. The aroma is very mild, there is some cardboard, roasted malt, tar. Full bodied, yet with a lean mouthfeel; quite good flavor of roasted malts and chocolate, without exceeding on the burnt side, but also with a moderate liquorice character; correct bitterness, and nice alcohol warmth.
Good beer, not exceptional.
