Aroma of toasted malt, twigs, earthy hops, dab of yeast, touch of rust, brown leaves
Taste of caramel malts, earthy hops, bitter twigs, toasty malts, rust, bitter leaves, touch of copper coin
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, earthy bitter. Finish as main flavour, bit dry, earthy, rust
Overall - Bitter, twigs, earthy, quite a lot of flavour in this. Nothing wrong with it, but it just doesnโt taste nice. Not for me.

500ml bottle from M&S Edinburgh. Pours clear amber, first one in a while that the head sticks around on. Aromas of toffee, nuts, faint chocolate and raisins, nearly a Topic, but nothing that strong on top of the overall beeriness. Taste is light sweet. Some herbal notes on the finish. OK.

50cl bottle from Marks & Spencer, Camberley. Golden chestnut with a tight cream head; spicy malt aroma; thick with a spicy toffee taste; and a prickly bitterness; then a sweet finish. Hobgoblin at the seaside.

Bottle from M&S Beggars Bush; dark mahogany pour with a thin beige head, aroma has toasted malts plus some dark fruits, taste has robust malts, some burnt toffee cinder, fruits of the dark variety, ok.

Bottle shared. Pours clear brown with a cream head. Aroma of malt, light overripe dark fruit, caramel and brown sugar. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle from M&S Moorgate. Clear chestnut colour lasting off white head. Touch of yeast on the aroma. Almost peachy. Some solid brown malts. OK peppery bitter hop finish. Decent British strong bitter. A bit surprising but nice enough.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from the M&S on Oxford St. Pours a clear, fetching ruddy gold with a frothy, off-white head. The aroma holds plenty of toasted barley, dried berries, slight metal, grain. Light to medium sweet flavor with lightly sugary bread, ripe berries, some earthy and vaguely leafy bitterness, a bit of husky grain, bread crust. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Nicely balanced on the finish, with a pleasantly rounded malt character, some further ripening fruits, berries, touches of melon and citrus, more bread, grain, earth. Solid stuff. Very drinkable.
