Bottle from Drinks Vanuxeem, Ploegsteert, Belgium. Pours a deep mahogany colour with a thin soapy looking beige head. Aromas of dry dark fruits, stewed fruit, caramel, brown bread and alcohol. Taste has more of the dark fruit notes, plums, more caramel, toasty brown bread and some brown sugar creating some combined toasty and sweet notes on a very well balanced dry finish. A touch woody perhaps but i’m not detecting too much barrel aging. Medium body, low carbonation and smooth slightly oily mouthfeel. Very decent beer.

Bottled. Deep ambery brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma is dried fruits, figs, caramel, alcohol and some slight toffee tones. Flavour is toffee, some alcohol, mild wooden and some spicy tones with a wee bit of candy sugar too.

Bottle from Geers. Clear brown with a slowly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma of pear, red apple, fig, caramel, kitchen herbs, clove, furniture, leather. Taste has sweetish apple & pear in a caramelly, slightly nutty body, sourish accent of red berries, bit herbal & woody. Herbal & peppery hoppy finish, more expressively woody & nutty now, dried fruit hints underneath, subtle liqueur-like alcohol glow. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. I'm not sure I really like the foeder treatment here, feels a bit thin on the palate too; good but I prefer the 12 version.

Bottle from BIAB. It pours dark brown with a small foamy beige head. The aroma is rich malty action, sweet, fruity unctuous, jammy berry, fruit cake, berry compote, plum, prune, splash of Dr Pepper and wood. The taste is initially dry and toasty, bitter - sweet, toothy, plenty of berry, dried fruits, jammy, toasted malts, fruit cake, oak, light vanilla, Dr Pepper, light tannin, leather and a touch of alcohol warmth to keep it in check. Medium to full body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Toothy, fruity and flavourful. Nice stuff.
