Novemberish 2005 bottle from Rastacouere, consumed on 3/28/06
Immense white head is very bubbly, eventually receding to a light covering, with minimal lacing. Vigorous, small bubbles roam about the liquid, which is a light pinkish-lemonade color, with just a touch of haze towards the bottom of the bottle.
The nose is very dry, with a lightly spicy yeast, some faint plant-like notes, entwined with dry raspberries, tastefully and seemingly authentically done. A soft vanilla keeps it from being bone dry, but its near that. Raspberry pulp-like juiciness fills in most of the aroma, while a touch of wheat dryness is noted.
Upon first sip, the liquid crackles with lively carbonation, very spritzy, expansive and pulling apart the already dried out flavors imparted by the lightly crusty white grains, soft, but dry wheat and raspberry seed dryness. The raspberry flavor is true, however, and as the beer warms and the carbonation becomes nearly manageable, a succulent honey-vanilla covered raspberry flavor emerges, sticking to the palate and lingering long after the finish. Fairly clean yeastiness, light sourdough effect, matches the extremely dry, fully attenuated raspberry flavor to produce a light bodied, quenching drink. No alcohol noted. Touch watery, as others have noted, with plenty of carbonation, but the beer wouldnt work with much lower levels of carbonation (though it could stand to be less expansive). Thanks David!

Cloudy red-orange color, compact head. Nice aroma of raspberry and strawberry puree. Mild flavor, a bit fruity, some wheat, moderate sweetness, and very low bitterness.
For a fruit beer, it’s well made.

Cloudy pink grapefruit color. Aroma of raspberries and white sugar. Watery taste, with a very light fruit touch and extremely short final. Bad for my taste.

(Bottle 34,1 cl) Hazy reddish orange with a small, slightly pink head. Very fruity, berry nose. Light-bodied with vaguely sour notes and very distinct accents of raspberries - appear authentic, not artificially flavoured. Not really sweet, but very fresh. A perfect summer aperitif. Thanks to Siroy for this. 150306

Light, cloudy, peachy/amber/brown sort of colour. The aroma shows raspberries, wheat, yeast and alcohol. This beer is so light that all of its key elements are exposed, even the ones that shouldn’t be. Fizzy body. Tart, bland raspberry character with abundant, equally bland yeast and background quasi-maltiness. No different than any dime-a-dozen brewpub razz wheat. While maintaining some marginal drinkability it is an uncharacteristically poor effort from Unibroue.

Hazy golden ale with a lightly pinkish thin head. Smells like raspberry purée with light acidic notes. Light malt and wheat tatse with little acidiic points and tart raspberries. Sweet and thinnish, but enjoyable. enjoyed the fresh fruits. Tasted at Institut’s gambrinale, Outaouais, Oct. 28 2005.

Bottle: Poured a soft pink color ale with a huge bubbly white head with average retention. Aroma of raspberry is clearly dominant. Taste is overpowered with raspberry syrup, which is not something I generally look for in beers. Seems to me like they have mixed the Blanche de Chambly minus the coriander with raspberry syrup. Like the Cassis one, I find this really lack craftsmanship and resemble more like a beer/fruit soda from Belgium (i.e. Chapeau…) then some highly crafted fruit beer (i.e. New Glarus, Kriek de Ranke).
