At a tasting, thanks Benzai, small stable creamy head, very deep brown color, aroma of malty cakiness with clove and cardamom, lots of chocolate in flavor with a noticable saltiness blending in , and some cardamom behind, lightish bitterness. Nice and enjoyable.

Bottle shared in Hackney - cheers to Tipple. Pours deep brown with a frothy, khaki head. The nose holds toasted ginger, a little roast, cocoa. Medium sweet flavour, more chocolate, moderate ginger spice, dried berries, earth, alcohol. Medium to full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, further ash, dried berries, lingering ginger, scorched earth. Solid.

Bottle at LKS. It pours dark brown with a small beige head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, gingerbread, salted caramel, toasty grain, umami, floral and toasty grain. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, charred wood, leather, spice, roasted, cacao, warming alcohol, tar and burnt toast with a drying finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Quite spiced. OK.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Shared with Anke.
Pours hazy dark brown, not quite black, with a big, diminishing, frothy, beige head. The aroma contains apple (cake), (salted) caramel, dark chocolate, ginger, candied fruits, licorice, calvados or bourbon. It tastes medium malty/fruity sweet, hints of (salted) caramel & chocolate, and light to medium roasted bitter; toasty, chocolatey (somewhat 'powdery') finish, weak hints of salt lingering on the tongue, and warming bourbon alcohol. Full body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Nice brew, although I found the 2018 version even better and it does make you a bit thirsty.

Bottle. Color: Almost black, thin light brown head. Taste: Rather complex mix of dark roasted malt, dark chocolate, hopbitterness, notes of ginger and liquorice and some salty hints. The alcohol is well hidden. Pretty long bittersweet finish. Above medium body, just below average carbonation. ‘Masterpiece’.

01K16. Lots of cocoa, very creamy mouthfeel. Ginger shines through without disturbing. Bitter, salty, chocolatey. Bit too overcarbonated.
