Barley wine was brewed from a range of ingredients, but our favourite is the English variant of this beer. Our barley wine is made exclusively from English ingredients. The residual sweetness is high, and with a few years of maturation those noble oxidisation flavours emerge. Sherry and liquorice are desirable characteristics of this fine, well-matured barley wine.

Malt: Pale ale and caramel
Hops: East Kent Golding and Northern Brewer
Yeast: Wyeast 1318 London Ale III

A lightly hazed dark amber ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with vinous notes, treacle, light butterscotch, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity caramel malt with vinous notes, resinous floral hops, light treacle, very nice and solid. Bottle at Mondial 2018.

Bottle 75 cl. Pours an almost clear, dark reddish amber with no head what so ever - beer is completelt flat. Nose is boozy, oxidized, very raisiny. Body is rich, again lots of raisins, wood, but the booze is a bit rough and dominant make the beer rather edgy. And the lack of carbonation is a bit primitive - like some old school British BW. 110816

Bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy reddish brown with a tiny off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit and alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet finish with lots of warming alcohol. Oily and a bit sticky. I prefer my Barley Wines less sweet or at least with a balancing bitterness. 100316
