In the world of German brewing, Kräusen refers to the intense proliferation of bubbles and foam formed during fermentation of a young or "green" beer. And Aufkräusen (literally to kräusen it up), refers to a historic brewing technique in which some green beer is added to a fully-matured lager. This is a very old and very typically German tradition, and today even English-speaking brewers refer to this technique as krausening. Krausening brings the vibrant freshness of young beer to the more refined, austere flavors of a fully-matured lager.
Aecht Schlenkerla Kräusen starts out as normal Helles Schlenkerla Lager and matures for months in the old rock cellars underneath the brewery. Just before filling it is blended using the before mentioned "Kräusen" technique with classic Märzen Rauchbier. The result is an unfiltered, bottom fermented and amber color Märzen Lager hybrid with a vibrant and slightly smoky flavor.

Clear pale amber colour, small white head. Mild wood smoke aroma, malts. Light-bodied but malty. Pleasant Schlenkerla smokeyness - ham and wood, some sweetish fruity notes. Hoppy. A bit of crispness in the mouthfeel. Extremely balanced.

Bottle. Color: Amber to copper, stable large off-white head. Aroma: Smoked meat, malt. Taste: Smoked malt, some smoked meat. Moderate sweet and bitter. Over medium body, just below average carbonation. Notes of caramel and light hints of leather. Very nice.

A copper brown beer, a head is quite big and blond. Aroma has smooth smokyness, maltyness, some grass. Taste has smoothness, maltyness, quite light smokyness and smoked ham. Medium bodied. Again a different version of smoked beer. This is also great beer, lighter and light smokyness, but very tasteful.

500ml bottle – Pours an almost clear amber colour with a lasting large creamy off-white head. Aroma is malty, bready and caramel with smoky notes. A moderately sweet to light sweet taste, sweet malt, caramel, light fruit and spicey flavours with a smoky and light bitter finish.

Hendrix wciagajac nosem narkotyki by poczc ten aromat. z sentymentu i z szacunku dla tej tradycji i sposobu produkowania tego piwa nieco zawyzam ocene, staram sie tak nie robic ale przyznaje ze tu ocena o okolo 0,5 bedzie wyzsza wiec mozna sobie odjac by uzmyslowic sobie jak to piwo mi faktycznie smakowalo. od minusow zaczalem wiec troche plusow piana, jak zawsze spora i bardzo trwala oblepia kufel niemilosiernie prawie tak mocno jak blaszki w zylach osoby chorej na miazdzyce. piwo jasne jedno z jasniejszych rauchbier jakie widzialem. smak bardziej mi przypominal wedzonego zakopianskiego oscypka czy slowacka pazenice niz nuty kielbasy, boczku itp. 500ml bottle into shaker. From Leura Cellars, NSW. Nose is BBQ sauce and malt. Delicious! Hazy golden amber beer with a thin head of foam. High fine carbonation. Easy-drinking, medium body. Taste is smoky sweet with a dry bitter finish, lingering sweet umami at the end. Very nice.
