This is our take on a double IPA. Although some would consider it somewhat ‘Belgian’ in its malt and yeast profile, we definitely crammed in all the juicy, fruity and fresh hops that any hophead could possibly wish for.
With Elliot, we tried to create a refreshing beer that’s dangerously drinkable while still maintaining that unxious mouthfeel that Struise is so renowned for. Being able to either quaffed or sipped, this is one of our most versatile multi-purpose beers.

Bottle at Mes’s. Shit the bed... this is a belter of a beer. Massive props to ratebeer for getting this one together !! A gorgeous looker- hazy dark amber with a long time lingering biege head. Well helloooo. Big hoppy and yeast laden aroma . Flavour more of the same. Hoppy, sweeet and earthy. Stonking bitterness. Yeah, awesome is definitely the word here. A real treat, Cheers Mes.

Nice hazy bronze coloured body with lightish brown coloured tints and a perfectly topped tan head - absolutely perfect. Aroma of fresh floral hops, alcohol, grapefruit, grass, fresh pineapple and some jasmine. Medium-bodied; Sharp hoppy flavour at first with good grapefruit and slightly floral hops tucked in with a perfect malt backbone, some alcohol and a very mild caramel and sweet finish. Aftertaste shows the hop bitterness, some of the sweetness and a good complex grassy or almost biere de garde taste. Overall, a very nice beer, definitely showing the hops of an IPA (not double, thank you!) with the complexity of a belgie. Definitely good to try, and the simple fact that RateBeer is mentioned on this one makes it that much better! I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Liquor Outlet in Boonton, New Jersey on 03-October-2009, sampled at home in Washington on 24-January-2010.

Some sugar is present with a nice sweetness and a good spicy bitterness. Some fruit, notably a helping of grapefruit. nice spicy aftertaste

Beer #2 in a "Collaboration Trifecta". The beer pours a hazy orange-amber color with a medium fluffy light beige head that diminishes slowly. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrusy hops, bready malt and fruit. Medium, smooth body with a soft hops character that is increasingly bitter. Flavors of sweet malt and candy as well. The finish is hoppy and yeasty with a lingering bitterness left behind. Pretty good overall.

Bottle: Amber coloured, unclear to hazy, small firm off-white head; first sweet caramelly aromas, then suddenly robust spicy and hoppy nose, some liquorice underneath; solid bitter-sweet flavour, creamy MF, medium to full bodied; long and longer dryish, spicy and extremely hoppy finish. The right one......

Bottle thanks to fata2683: Poured a hazy burnt orange brown, the head was pillow and off white. Aroma is malt and hops. Taste is a balanced malt and hops, yet you get that tangy warming hop up front and at the end. A vary complicated beer from pour to finish.

Bottle. Nice dark color, large white foam. A lot of interesting aromas and flavors, including fruit, caramel, cider, strawberries and chocolate. The body was fairly strong, the beer was nicely balanced. The closure was dry. Interesting and exciting.

Body Amber, murky body with an off-white head. Aroma full of american hops, flowers, grass and some caramel malts. very well balanced and still powerful. Heavily bitter flavour, well balanced. Dry finish. Nice IPA.

Pours deep brown into a snifter. Mocha micro head with excellent retention leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Orange and grapefruit aromas. Bitter, dry, astringent resin upfront turning to summer fruits in the middle and back to a bitter lasting pine finish.

Dark, shiny copper color with reddish orange tints and a huge, ultra-fine head. Aroma of big, dry, piney hops, tobacco, and not much malt at all. Smells exactly like my third batch of homebrew. A touch of dark fruit in there too. Dry, extremely hoppy flavor, but with almost enough caramel to carry it, dark fruits, a bit of chocolate. Astoundingly bitter hop finish. Wow. Rich, full body. I don’t know about this. Very dry and bitter, but with enough interest as well. OK, but not at all what I expected from these two brewers. No balance at all. Amateurish.
