This is our take on a double IPA. Although some would consider it somewhat ‘Belgian’ in its malt and yeast profile, we definitely crammed in all the juicy, fruity and fresh hops that any hophead could possibly wish for.
With Elliot, we tried to create a refreshing beer that’s dangerously drinkable while still maintaining that unxious mouthfeel that Struise is so renowned for. Being able to either quaffed or sipped, this is one of our most versatile multi-purpose beers.

Pours a coppery orange with a massive persistent head and magnificent lacing.Aroma shows lot of piney, resinous hops (simcoe style) along with the usual grapefruit, and some earthy notes. Sweet confectionery and caramel malt follow underneath. Very nice, but not as complex as I expected.Lots of sweet caramel first up upon tasting before more resinous and piney hops kick in, finishing with a fairly powerful complex bitter finish, complimented by some clean alcohol. The candi sugar is hidden by caramel malt.Smooth body with creamy carbonation, the alcohol just shows in a subtle warming of the palate.I’m betting the aroma would be better fresh.

take it easy with this one. bottle at the publik house in brookline ma. really really nice from what i remember, was one of those nights, but this stood out in the drunken haziness, which should say alot.

33cl bottle; Cloudy, dark amber colour with a huge and dense tanned foamy head. Aromatic aroma of flowery, fruity and spicy hops with a mildly sweet malty background and notes of caramel, cough syrup and yeasts. Quite bitter flavour with shy sweet malty notes, full bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Dominating aroma-hoppy taste on a robust malty base with a cornucopia of flavours like caramel, cough syrup, liquorice and spicy accents. Long lasting, almost dry-ish finale with a very good bitterness-sweetness ratio. That´s a bingo ! 14.IX.09

Bottle at the pre-opening of Birreria Paradiso in Dupont Circle, thank you Greg. Deep golden amber with a big white head. Aroma of grass and hay. Taste of summer fruit, very full bodied with a slightly sour edge. Nice bitter finish. Balanced and complex. A real winner.

Bottle. Orange-grapefruit-pine hops aroma with just a hint of malt. Cloudy brown-amber color with giant head. Smooth malt and strong grapefruit-pine hops flavor. Very nicely blended. It’s been a long time since I’ve had anything this hoppy. Excellent beer.

bottle from Kulminator - Pours amber with a huge off-white head that laces well. The aroma is rich with amlt and dark fruit including cherries and grapes. It tastes of sweet malt and Belgian yeast up front with big hops then kicking in to lend it excellent balance. There’s a lingering moderately bitter finish to this very satisfying beer. Rerate of ’09 bottle in late 2011 - Fruity aroma, closer to cherry than citrus... good bitterness in the flavor, balancing malt is good, suggest drinking sooner as the hops could be more crisp, medium body, hint of spice, dry, bitter finish. 8/3/8/4/16

Bottle. Rusty color with a white head. Aroma is hoppy with notes of fruit. For me, the flavor lacks a little hoppiness, but there are nice undertones of sweetness and fruitiness. Overall its quite enjoyable.

Bottle. I’m instantly confused upon the pour since iI get about 5 full fingers of head and sour aromas that are detectable from a distance. Either something is wrong or this isn’t going to be the IIPA experience I was expecting. After it has been out of its cage for a little the monster seems to be behaving a little better. Aromas start to take on a little bit of a grassy and biscuity air and I think I’m pulling in some citrus, too. Flavor is a mix of some dusty and musty grains, alcohol, a bit of sourness, grass, and citrus.
