This is our take on a double IPA. Although some would consider it somewhat ‘Belgian’ in its malt and yeast profile, we definitely crammed in all the juicy, fruity and fresh hops that any hophead could possibly wish for.
With Elliot, we tried to create a refreshing beer that’s dangerously drinkable while still maintaining that unxious mouthfeel that Struise is so renowned for. Being able to either quaffed or sipped, this is one of our most versatile multi-purpose beers.

Bottle @ Home. Pours dark amber with a offwhite head. Aroma of malt yeast, sweet fruity, grapefruit. Flavor is malt, belgian yeast, citrusly hops, grapefruit, booze. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. 210810

Bottle bought at Ales by Mail. A murky dark amber coloured pour with a huge off white head on top. Hoppy, fruity, yeasty aroma. Tastes hoppy, yeasty, fruity, quite bitter and complex. It is clearly a very well made beer but I like some sweetness in my DIPA’s.

Bottle at home - 16/09/12. Mid amber/light brown in colour with a whopping great off-white head like Douglas Hurd’s barnet! Pine, grapefruit, dark sugars, tropical fruit, apricot jam, caramel on the nose. Tastes of bitter grapefruit, mango, slightly peppery, some mild spices. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation leads to a bitter sharp finish.

Pours a deep reddish brown color with a huge tan meringue like head that persists forever. Smells of earthy spicy hops with a solid caramel and brown sugar sweetness beneath it. The flavor holds caramel and brown sugar malts with a bit of dark dried fruit and a solid shot of earthy spicy piney hops. Medium body with a spirited level of carbonation and a resinous bubbly mouthfeel. I guess I should have read the label a little better and not bought an Imperial IPA from 2011. This tastes pretty good now, but it feels more like and aged American barleywine where the hops are fading and the malt is starting to come forward.

drank this one from a 33 cl bottle in t bierhuyske . i drank shark pants before, and this (to me) almost tastes the same. ( i refer to it as the IPA taste) but somehow i prefer shark pants, and im not sure shy. this is the same refreshing, bitter, hoppy taste i have with the SP. maybe different hops? a lower IBU for sure.. but this is still a very very good beer !

Upsss the entire rating went done in the toilet! Lets try it again... Bottle from Bierkompass.de cons 2012-07-14 Göteborg The bottle have now rested for 1/2 hour since it wasn’t tjat good to start with! AR: roasted malt, nutty, sugary, wee yeasty AP: hazy ruby, high creme caramel colored head - deminishing F: heavy bitterness - well still unbalanced, tropical fruits, sticky sugary fluid, alcholic, medium carbonation, finish is fruity and heavy in bitterness

En uppstickare. Smak och doft av karamell, bränt socker, ekkaraktär med vanilj toner. Komplex smak som ligger kvar länge på tungan.

330ml bottle. Pours a very dark, reddy brown with a large head. Aroma is very faint, some toffee, chocolate and banana. Taste is very bitter throughout. Some banana and a little mango on the finish. Just brutally bitter.

Cloudy chocolate brown beer, frothy tan head. Frothy palate, a little dry. Tart fruit, seamlessly blended with creamy malt. Then some serious hops, smooth though. Very well joined up tasty beer.

330 ml bottle bought @ Etre Gourmet. Pours slightly cloudy amberish orange with a huge frothy off-white/white head that slowly dissipates while leaving lots of trace on the glass.Smell is sweet, fresh and hoppy with tons of tropical fruits like peaches, papaya, pineapple and mango, caramel, lemon zest, freshly cut grass, oily pine and a slightly tingling alcohol sensation. Taste is sweet, bitter and tiny sour with caramel, bread, overripe peaches and mango, grass, lots of pine, wood, resin, plums, orange peal and very slight hints of dusty barnyard. Mouthfeel is slightly creamy, round and medium to full bodied. Finish is bitter with pine, grass, grapefruit and overripe mango.
