Night Drift was a deep, full-bodied and complex Imperial Stout, brewed in collaboration with our friends Laugar, from the Basque Country. With this beer you’ll drift off the beaten path, into a world of double-chocolate and salted caramel. Just watch out, it’s stronger than you might think…

Keg at BBP. It pours jet black with a small beige head. The aroma is soft, sweet, sticky, salted caramel, toffee, chocolate, fudge, ovaltine and oiliness. The taste is bitter - sweet, coffee, liquorice, slick, cocoa, charred wood, peppery spice, oily, chewy, chocolate cake, peppery spice and hot boozey hit through a pretty drying finish. Medium - full body and fine, foamy carbonation. A bit harsh in areas. So-so for style.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg. Black with a very thin beige head. Chocolate aroma from roasted malts with some coffee and caramel. Taste is sweet with some chocolate bitterness. Long lingering finish. Well brewed but i miss the saltiness from the salted caramel.

Bottle. Malt Attacks, Brussels. You’re alright. I’ll upload a photo. Don’t all rush. Not far off black. Ring of tan head. Nose has salted caramel. Dark, fruity, twangy chocolate. Hint of coffee. Taste is roast coffee bean bitter. Ashy dryness. Quite smooth. Ashy, earthy, coffee bitterness to finish.

Very dark brown pour with a medium-height velvety tan head. Notes of roasted malts, dark chocolate, salt, cocoa powder, citrus and pine, cherry/apple skin bitterness, smoke, ash. Medium to full body, soft carbonation and a roasty bitter and lightly salty finish.

Thanks! Sampled draft @ Modeste 2017. Black, patchy mocha head. Nose is overly heavy roast, bitter burned cacao nips. Taste is weak cheap thin cacao, low liquorice, herbal, bark, thin roast chocolate syrup, messy weak especially at this ABV, salted caramel is not really fully there. Weak basic not that great in the style, disappointing for a RIS. For every beer that BBP pleases these days it seems one follows that is bit of a let-down like this one.

Collab of BBP with Laugar, a RIS flavoured with salted caramel and chocolate. Sampled at Hedonis Ambachtsfest, thanks kraddel for sharing! Creamy, near-pinkish tinged tan head, black robe with translucent dark chestnut brown edges. Aroma of caramel candy and a lot of it, leather, beef broth, black chocolate bars, candied dates, walnut, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, cappuccino. Cleanly fruity, sweet onset, candied fig and raisin, softish carbo, creamy and oily mouthfeel. Fully caramelly, bitter chocolatey, in the end toasty and black coffee-like roasted malt body with beef stock-like umami side notes, working towards a spicy, bayleaf- and pepper-coloured, very firmly, wormwood-like and heavily roasted, but pleasantly bittering and alcoholically warming, but non-wry finish. Very nice example, even if the salted aspect remains a tad understated, manifesting itself more in an umami side flavour than in an actual salty flavour - which is kind of what I was looking forward to... Still: one of BBP's best so far, with the aid of Laugar, to be fair.
