This stout is simply not suitable for vegetarians. It contains oysters. Now, you won’t find one at the bottom of the glass, but you may get a touch of sweet minerality in the flavour that comes from the freshly shucked lads that get put in during brewing. Not a bad way to go, even for a bivalve.Delicate and toasty, it also has slightly bitter, fragrant twist, thanks to East Kent Goldings.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks zvikar. Dark brown, looks transparent in front of a candle. Aroma of chocolate, nuts, a bit of dark bread hintes and a bit of spicy notes. Slightly sweetish flavor with light roastiness, a bit of chocolate and coffee notes, light saltiness and a finish with a bit of bitterness. Medium-bodied.

On tap (a Patrick’s Day "special") at Patrick’s Irish Pub, Ljubljana, Slovenia. Poured a clear dark red/black body with a thick off white head. Dark malt, raisins, caramel, lovely light notes of chocolate. Light, taste, superb creaminess, sweet milk caramel, vague salty something (oysters would be the educated guess)... And damn this is smooth. While initially completely thrilled, as my glass got emptier, I found this harder and harder to drink. While undoubtedly tasty, it doesn’t call for more. -1 on overall, palate and taste because of that.

33 cl bottle from Dorrstep Brew. BB 23.06.13, sampled on January 6, 2013. 5.2% ABV version.Clear dark reddish brown color, big lasting tan head. Sweet, salty, lactic, roasted scent. Sweet, some licorice, chocolate, cocoa, malty taste. Fresh and roasted aftertaste. Some minerals lingering. Firaly smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness that finishes to the dry side. Feels like one of the better oyster stouts I’ve had, not that I’ve had that many, but it does stick out and it is tasty.

A roaster flavor with an odd salty aftertaste, presumably from the oysters. Dark brown in color with a white head.

Tap at Porterhouse, Covent Garden - 13/12/12. Light black, reddish brown in the light with a good tan head that retains well. Good lacing follows. Nose is light malt, mineral tones, touch of fruit. Taste is roast malt, liqourice, leather, dark fruit, hint of chocolate and some sugars. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, smooth on the palate. Ok stuff - nowt too exciting!

Bottle @ BrewDog Aberdeen 261112 Thanks to the assistant manger who plonked a bottle of this in front of us!
Dark brown, thin white head (tasting sample)
Aroma - spicy hops, soft salty, spicyness is from the oysters?, there certainly seems to be a fair amount of oyster in here, some herbal notes, unusual but good aroma
Taste as aroma - spicy hops, aromatic spicy herbal notes, some fruity dark malts, roasted malts, oysters are doing something odd but good with this, well balanced, bit mineraly
Palate - medium carb, thin to medium body. Finish - dryish, some lingering bitterness
Overall - It’s the most oyster-tasting oyster stout I’ve had. Must pick up a full bottle and re-rate.

Clear dark red beer. Small and short lived tan head. Light crisp palate. Mild dark malts with a whisper of smoke and mild roast. Minerals. Mild tang. Good carbonated bite in the finish. More porter like.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with medium head and nice lacing. Aromas of cocoa powder, coffee, and a bit of floral perfume. Metallic and weak for a stout. Continue perfume and acidity in the flavor distracts from the light roasted malts and mild bitterness.
