Black Eyed King Imp returns in this Vietnamese coffee edition of an epic barrel-aged imperial stout.

Oh. And this is the world's strongest ever canned beer.

At 12.7% ABV, Black Eyed King Imp is a super intense and twistedly complex brew, with intense notes of sweet vanilla, rich espresso, smooth molasses and bitter chocolate barely contained by the metal wrapped around it. We've ransacked the barrel store to blend some of our favourite aromas and flavour infusions into this massive monster of a beery beast!

Malts: Black , Chocolate, Dark Crystal, Extra Pale, Roasted Barley, Smoked, Wheat

Hops: Cascade, Columbus

0.33 l can from 'Holy Craft Beer Store', best before October 2020. Jet black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, dark beige layer. Sweetish, malty, moderately roasty aroma of mocca, praline, hazelnut, vanilla and some bourbon. Very sweet, malty, moderately roasty taste of praline, mocca, hazelnut, vanilla, some licorice and a fair amount of bourbon, followed by a long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly earthy finish with lots of bourbon. Medium to full body, smooth, creamy to oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Incredibly tasty, fantastic balance, rather easily drinkable for that abv as well as the style and fairly complex at the same time. The price for the can is a joke though.

Aroma: Coffee, roasted, very dark malt.
Taste: Strong coffee, roasted, very dark malt, burnt. Warming. Dark chocolate, slight barrel, light sweetness. Very nice, though a tad expensive!

Vöröses árnyalatú fekete szín, semmi hab. Fenomenális, kávés, csokis, kakaós illatfelhő, aszalt gyümölcsös, konyakos felhangokkal. Kissé édeskés csokilikőrös, kakaós, kávés, pörkölt malátás ízvilág, aszalt gyümölcsös aromákkal, hosszú, kakaóporos, alkoholos lecsengéssel. Nehéz, szinte jól lakik vele az ember, közepesen szénsavas, erősen keserű, amit jól ellenpontoznak a süteménybe illő ízkomponensek. Lenyűgöző sör, kiváló arányokkal és egyensúllyal.

0,33l can at home shared by Saeglopur, big thanks for this one. BB 08/10/2020. black color, very dark coffee-colored head. smells of coffee, light vanilla, light bourbon, earthy, licorice, very very nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of bourbon, licorice, earthy, light green grass notes. finishes very balanced with light earthy bitterness and notes of bourbon, earth and some vanilla. great one, very nice balance, would almost prefer a bit of carbonation on this one, but overall very nice beer.

330 ml can, bb 08/10/20, bought at BottleDog Kings Cross, London.
Black, oily liquid, with a small, dense, creamy, dark coffee-colored head.
Aroma of coffee, melting dark chocolate, bourbon, cocoa powder, dark fruits, some liquorice.
Very lovely Taste, with quite similar aromas, but even creamier, with lots dark chocolate and bourbon, some booze.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty, a bit alcoholic, wooden, moderate sweet, with cocoa, coffee, bourbon, some liquorice.

Very tasty! Smooth and dense, quite boozy, but not too overpowering. Really complex, releases more and more aromas the longer you drink. Not among my very favourite style examples, but really lovely stuff, worth the high ratings.

Can 330ml (Beer Hunters). Opaque black color, tiny brownish head. Roasted, milky aroma. Full-bodied. Soft, coffeish, milky, cocoa. Covers alcohol well. A bit vintage feeling (bbe 2020). Lacks something.

Pours like motor oil, looks like molasses, smells like heaven. Sweet rich decadent nose of dark chocolate, whiskey, coffee, roasted malt, pray, molasses and tootie rolls. The mouth is exqusite, medium full body, low carbonation, sweet, tons of dark chocolate, coffee, tootsie roll, ash, peat and whiskey. Alcohol well hidden for the abv. Whiskey is modest in the end with some, coffee and dark chocolate. Awesome

Can (MT/KS/MB February tasting). Pitch black colour with a small longlasting beigeish brown head. Aroma is coffee, some ashes, mild alcohol as well as some slight smoked wooden notes. Flavour is coffee, burnt wood, some toffee, alcohol, mild liquorice and some mild vanilla to it as well. Big, beautiful and quite nice, as it has aged for a while.
