Black Eyed King Imp returns in this Vietnamese coffee edition of an epic barrel-aged imperial stout.

Oh. And this is the world's strongest ever canned beer.

At 12.7% ABV, Black Eyed King Imp is a super intense and twistedly complex brew, with intense notes of sweet vanilla, rich espresso, smooth molasses and bitter chocolate barely contained by the metal wrapped around it. We've ransacked the barrel store to blend some of our favourite aromas and flavour infusions into this massive monster of a beery beast!

Malts: Black , Chocolate, Dark Crystal, Extra Pale, Roasted Barley, Smoked, Wheat

Hops: Cascade, Columbus

0.33l bottle from De Molen shop. Og, It's a really really jet black looking one this. Like pouring dark used motor oil in the glass. On the top there's a surprisingly small islandy dark and brown filmy head. It smells like it should, and then some. Really rich, deep and chocolaty. Dark coffee and it's really roasty toasty. If I didn't know better I'd day that this smells barreled. Almost woody and a little boirbonic/wood infused. Smells really really good. Loaded with flavor! A rush of dark and sweetish muscovado sugar, dark thick molasses and licorice. Let's of it also. It's thick and oily, near chewy in the mouth and soft prickling on the bubbles. Dark chocolate and dark rich espresso in the taste. So smooth and it has this enormous depth of flavor. Roasted all the way, and a little alco sting opens up all that massive darkness. A lovely tasting one! 01.10.2016

Can shared at Brewdog Brussels. Black with a small brown head. Aroma of massive fresh roast, lovely espresso without a hint of green or veggies. Dark chocolate, caramel, light roasted malt, fudge and tobacco notes. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Perfectly balanced, easy drinking, overall a world class beer from Brewdog. [17-09-2016]

12oz can pours a muddy black with some sudsy, tan head. Nose has BBQ sauce, berry, cherry, malt, but heavy smoke and BBQ sauce. Flavor follows with some tomato, cherry, BBQ sauce, smoke, caramel. Full bodied, stick finish. Not what I expected.

(330ml can from kihoskh.dk) Pours pitch black with a small dark brown head that fades rapidly without lace. Aroma has lots of oaky leather, tobacco, molasses, earthy, slight coffee and vanilla, dried figs, ‘brown spirits’ alcohol character, a bit of roast in the background. Flavours are quite sweet overall with dark toffee and molasses, dried figs and prunes, cold sweet coffee, tobacco, slight smoke, leather, umami, brandy. Finish dries down with notable alcohol heat, old barrels, light but ashy roast, coffee grounds. Heat persists long into the aftertaste. Full body, rather viscous, very low carbonation. Coffee character is in the back here, Vietnamese or otherwise - lead by sweet malts, a blend of barrel notes and alcohol. Nice, a bit over-priced though.

Almost black. Aroma: oak, roasted, vanilla, rum, coffee, alcoholic, dried fruits. Taste sweet, caramel, candy, wine and strong alcohol (brandy), coffee and chocolate, dried fruit and prunes, very warming, perfectly well.

CAN 33 CL. Inky black, dark espresso head. The aroma and the flavour are both very big (maybe over the top). Lots of earthy coffee, coffee grounds and baking cocoa. Bitter and sweet chocolate, bourbon and vanilla. Warming alcohol. The finish is slightly acrid coffee, chocolate liqueur. Silky smooth mouth feel. Really big and very good.

Can. Beer Stop, Dronfield. Just about black. Barely a head. Nose has vanilla oak. Earthy coffee bean. Darkest chocolate. Stone fruit tang. Taste is tangy, coffee bean bitter. Lip sticking, vanilla sweetness. Mouthfeel is a bit boozy and sharp. Manages to stay pretty drinkable, though. Long, fruity, coffee bean bitter, with a sweet, boozy linger. Very nice, although sold at a ridiculous price when it was originally released. Was £16 a pop first off. It’s now a supermarket beer for £6. Just price it correctly in the first place!
