Sample from tap, CBC 2013.Brown colour with a small, tan head. Fruity aroma with lots of coffee, milk chocolate, caramel and roasted malts. Taste is sweet and roasted. Medium body with a soft carbonation, creamy. Finishes dry and roasted. Nice - if you like coffee.

Draught @ CBC. Pours black with a small offwhite head. Aroma of roasted malt, loads of coffee. Flavor is roasted malt, hard roasted coffee beans, little dark chocolate. Medium body, soft carbonation, dry finish. 030513

From a 633ml bottle on 29/4/2013 (2012 edition). Pours a dark mahogany with a small head. The aroma features lots of coffee and some woody and smoky notes. It starts out sweet with lots of milk chocolate and sugared coffee, along with some smoke and ash. Finishes with a big, satisfying roasty bitterness which lingers in the mouth. The body is slightly creamy and the carbonation medium. Very moreish and ridiculously easy to drink. A really good coffee based stout.

Tap at Bashamichi Taproom, Yokohama. Black colour with a small beige head. Aroma of coffee. Flavour of coffee. Just a lot of coffee.

Draft at the source. Brown color, tan head, solid lacing. Aroma of coffee!!! Taste is enough coffee to overwhelm the beer characteristics.

Dark with a tan head. Strong coffee, roasted malt aroma with some light chocolate. Flavor is much the same. Also had a bit of anise, vanilla, and molasses. Full bodied. Had this near the end of a session and it still held up real well against my tired taste buds. Highly enjoyable.

Black with an appealing fine, milkshake head. Milky, round, coffee aroma with chocolate, caramel, burnt barley. Big coffee flavor with a rather noticeable sourness. Burnt and dry, yet with decent sweetness as well. Long, burnt, bitter finish. Decent balance, though slightly too sour and a bit harsh.

Draught at Baird Naka-Meguro Taproom. Very black,minimalhead. Coffee and tar upfront. Sweet and full bodied. Oily and dense, powerful with plenty of licorice and espresso. Long salty bitterness. Powerful and a bit rough.
