Bottle. A slow gusher, producing a black body under a dense, finger-thick light tan head. Boozy nose with licorice, roasted malts and some dried fruits. Seeing that the beer is made with raisin syrup doesn’t surprise me. Boozy in the mouth as well, with roasted malts, some soy sauce and sweet licorice. Full-bodied, warming and soft on the palate, with a lasting finish. A tasteful and pleasant beer I’d very much enjoy again. It’s warming, but I think the alcohol level suited the beer just fine. 121130

Slightly brown semi fizzy head. Aroma is sweet and boozy, dark malts, dark sugar, dark dried fruits, coffee, alcohol, licorice, oak, caramel, grass, hints of citrus peel. Taste is very sweet, dark malts, masses of sugar, dark dried fruits, coffee, ashtray, even more sugar, caramel, coffee, licorice, almonds, hints og citrus peel and nice warming alcohol, and did I mention lots of sugar?! Medium bitterness, well hidden alcohol in the taste. Not bad, it’s just sweet, sweet, sweet!!

Bottle. Pours black, with a finger thick mocha coloured head. Aroma is burned malts, peat, coffee, leather and tobacco. Creamy body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with burned malts, tobacco, chocolate, molasses and liquorice. Tremendous balance, and never getting too sweet. An absolute winner!

Opaque black - brown beer. Small dark tan head. Smooth palate with some presence. Very moderate carbonation but what there is is sharp. Silky dark malt with coffee bitterness and dryness. A little brandy and unsweet chocolate. Smooth semi dry finish. A rich brew but possibly should have a left if for awhile.

0.33l bottle from 2011. It wants out of the bottle this! It's quite dark and really oily on the pour, actually as good as black in color and the head is really big, dark chocolate-brown and quite good looking. On the nose there are tons of things going on. The dominating aroma is actually something spicy and salty soy sauce mixed with licorice, chocolate, heavy roasted almost burned malts, some alcohol, wood and used matches. Quite deep, complex and really interesting. It's soft to average on the carbonation, and it has a thick fat oily mouthfeel. It's quite sweet this. Much more than the aroma lead me to beleive. Chocolaty-sweet, almost cloying with honey, quite warming and stingy with booze. Prickling cognac alcohol flavors with some salty licorice in the background. It's really brutal this! Used the best part of two hours on this little bottle. 28.12.2012
