Mug Bitter is a top fermented, amber-coloured beer of 5% ABY, made from pale malt and Caramalt 20 and richly hopped with Hallertau, Goldings and Challenger hops.
The beer's character is best expressed in the old saying: "Geen smaeck zo soet als 't Zeeuwse Bitter doet" (Nothing tastes as sweet as the Bitter from Zeeland).
Its hoppy and fruity aroma and well-balanced bittersweet flavour places this beer in a league of its own!
Mug Bitter ... Much Better!

On tap at Cafe Mug, Middelburg, Netherlands, Wednesday 2nd October 2013 Pours gold with a light gaze, slim white head atop. This is a nice bitter, a little minerally, nice malty base, Soft in mouth, lasting bitterness, tasty decent beer. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottle from Cafe De La Gare, Den Haag. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is yeasty with a little malt. The flavour is medium bitter, malty, with a little grassy hop and a slightly watery palate. Not one of the better beers from this brewery.

draft @ Delirium.

On tap @ the Braai Tapperij de Mug. This is a golden lightly blurry one with a nice dense, heavy lacing just off-white head. It has a light yeasty and fruity aroma, I get some leafs, sweetness and hints of melon. Nice. It's average carbonated and it has a soft oily texture. Mildly bitter in flavor (as the name suggest), I get some more leafy tones in the flavor as well, mild grassy and it also has a hint of yeasty-melon. Not bad, a bit boring perhaps, but not bad tasting. 29.05.2012

33 cl. bottle @ home – purchased at Beer Planet after some previous excitement about some other Schelde-beers, appearance is a hazy, sickly & stale orange with a white head, smells like grains, dishwashing liquid lemon and some absolutely terrible hops & malts, taste is no better vile bitter pale lager/pilsner malt, dishwashing liquid, airrefresher lemon zest, metallic, rotting floral & worse hops, vile hops, bitter in a highly unpleasant way, in no way is this a bitter & craft or not this as bad if not worse than the macro fizzy yellow beers, fizzy body, plain terrible

Hazy orange amber colour, Rather small white head, big bubbles. Smell light citrus, floral hops, sweetish malts. Tea biscuits. Some fruit and pronounced belgian yeast. Citric fruity flavour, bitter-sweet and spicy. Malty tones, tea biscuits again. Yeast tones come through, reminding a bit of witbier. Yeasty finish, hops give a dry lingering touch. Nice and thirst quenching, not a bitter though. (Draught @ Café de Mug, Nijmegen)
