tasted in an Amsterdam pub. The smoked ham flavor well hidden behind the typical flavor of a weizen beer. This beer definitely needed a re-rate: beechwood aroma. "Rookworst" (Dutch smoked sausage) says Huub, the local pub owner with whom I tasted this beer, and I agree. Hints of pineapple and a touch of banana. Magic stuff.

Bottle 500 ml. Cloudy brown color, creamy almost perfect foam. Aroma: banana, smoked and caramelized, wheat, caramel. Very original taste: smoked dark wheat malt, birch juice and dried fruit compote, tasty.

Undated 17 oz. bottle A: Poured a smooth black color until the slug fell out at thend, lending a silty look to the entire glass. Little head and short retention. S: Smokey and sweet aroma of burnt wood and toffee or molasses. T: Bitter, sweet and smokey at once with neither flavor dominating. A little plum and dark bread. Not cloying or ashy. Maybe the wheat tones it down. M: Medium light bodied with a very smooth slick texture. Very low carbonation level. O: Light and drinkable enough to have 2 (not 3). Very well balanced with just enough smoke and sweetness. Of course it looks like pond water.

Gott sei Dank ist das Weizen nicht ganz so rauchig wie das normale Schlenkerla Rauchbier. Trotzdem benötigt der Schaum und die ersten 2 Schlucke ziemliche Überwindung. Wird dann gut trinkbar und stellt sich als mehr als nur anständiges dunkles Weißbier heraus. Viel Hefe, recht weich und süffig. Die anfangs alles dominierende Rauchigkeit rückt etwas in den Hintergrund, ist aber stehts noch präsent. Interessant und wohlschmeckend. Schmeckt mir von mal zu mal besser und ist dabei in meiner persönlichen Rangliste immer weiter und weiter nach oben gestiegen. Ein richtig tolles Bier, das zwar viel Gewöhnung braucht, aber dann nicht nur durch die exotische Rauchigkeit zu überzeugen weiß.

Rauchbier might be my least favorite style, even after the 40 malt bombs styles I've had during ddb. Sorry rauchbier lovers but this destroys my constitution

Aroma is fatty salty umami ham some smoke of course. Taste is a little smoked umami but well balanced everything. Full bodied. Maybe a weizen? Good.

Bottle. Malty smoked aroma, bacon, light caramel. Tastes the same as aroma, light sour notes, medium bitter. Medium to full body, malty smoked bitter finish. Very good.
