(Bottle) Dark amber colour with frothy, tan head. Malty, slightly fruity nose with notes of caramel, dark bread, dried fruit, orange peel, treacle-toffee and spicy hops. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, dried apricots, rye bread, orange peel, treacle-toffee, hay and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty, well balanced and quite elegant. Very nice.

Bottle 33 cl. Bottle says Red Rye Ale at 7.1% ABV. Pours a clear, reddish amber with an off-white head. Perfumy, herbal hop aroma - somehow very British. Rich, malty body, rustic - probably from the rye - but very solid, with a slightly bitter finish. No biggie, but certainly well crafted. 200219

Bottle from a mix box from the Waitrose at Gloucester Rd. Pours bright copper with a white head. Aroma is floral. A bit firmer than the typical English ale floral. Med body. Flavor is floral with some rye spice. It’s malty, not all that dry, and tho it’s hoppy, there’s not enough bitter to stave off a maltiness. The rye spice helps tho. I do like rye.
