Real vanilla beans from Madagascar combined with caramel and Munich malts create a beer that’s balanced and flavorful. Aromas of vanilla and toasted grain set the stage for mellow flavors of vanilla and dark roasted malts. Don’t let its deep mahogany color fool you. Vanilla Porter is dark in color and packed with flavor, yet it is as smooth as they come and easy to enjoy at any time of the year.

Overall Impression: Have had this one quite a few times over the years, and I use to like this beer more, but something about it didn't work the last few times I had it, maybe too sweet? I'm not sure exactly.

A deep dark clear brown porter with a thick unctuous moka head. Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, light c-hops, very pleasing. In mouth, a very nice light porter with vanilla essence, oily mouth feel, light to medium bodied. On tap at Ballpark brewpub 24 Jan. 2009.

Breckenridge mixed pack. Pours copper with tan head. Aroma of light vanilla and chocolate. The vanilla is neither too strong nor too weak, there is enough to be noticed and create an amazing nose. Taste of vanilla with underlying touch of sweet lactose. Very smooth, light roasted malts, touch cocoa powder and chocolate. Leave this beer warm up and it becomes a great porter filled with outstanding vanilla mouthfeel.

Very dark brown with a small off-white head. Caramel and molasses in the aroma. Cloying sweet with way too much vanilla flavour.

Tall off white head over a clear, dark brown body. Roast malt with a hint of vanilla. Lightly sweet with no hop bitterness. Vanilla is weak. A bit thin. Not bad, but it could have been much more.

Someone told me I should try this, so I am. Bottle from Westpark Wine and Beer in Richmond. Pours dark brown to black iwht a medium head, good lacing and low retention. Aroma of leather, tobacco and caramel. Vanilla is barely noticeable at first in the taste, but grows on you. Also, a taste of caramel and tobacco. Medium body. Astringent. 6/4/6/3/12/3.1
Rerate 7/13/08. Bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Dark brown pour with excellent head retention and lacing. Roasted malt aroma with hints of vanilla. Taste is roasted malt, vanilla and a tart fruitiness. Full bodied. Must have gotten a less than stellar bottle before, because this really hits the spot. 6/4/8/4/14/3.6

Deep dark brown coloured body with a frothy and dense tan head. Aroma of strong vanilla, fragrant oak and malt, a bunch of coffee and even a bit of milk. Medium-bodied; Potent lactic qualities with sour milk and cream more noticeable than anything else. Roasted malt showing through with some caramel, along with a bit of nuts. Aftertaste potent and strong, but the sweetness is definitely there. Overall, a decent porter - more of a sweet stout to me, but the lactic qualities are strong as well as the vanilla. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 03-April-2008.

Aroma is very heavy roasted chocolatee malts with a gint of vanilla and nuttyness. Small, creamy, white brown heaed covering a dark brown body. Minimal lacing. Taste is somewhat unpleasent with a very sour taste. Very malty and earthy, not much vanilla or even chocolate. Watery mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Not as good as it sounds.
