Real vanilla beans from Madagascar combined with caramel and Munich malts create a beer that’s balanced and flavorful. Aromas of vanilla and toasted grain set the stage for mellow flavors of vanilla and dark roasted malts. Don’t let its deep mahogany color fool you. Vanilla Porter is dark in color and packed with flavor, yet it is as smooth as they come and easy to enjoy at any time of the year.

Tap at the Brewpub. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken tan head. The aroma is creamy roasted malt with vanilla. The flavour is medium bitter with a huge watery vanilla malty liqourice palate. I like vanilla very much but this was a little overpowering.

Bottle, 12oz. It pours a reddish light brown body, clear, with a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma is mostly on the roasted side, with caramel, some chocolate and vanilla. Something strange that I can’t idenfity too. The flavor doesn’t have that unwanted strange thing though, just chocolate, coffee, caramel and vanilla, and some bitterness. Medium to full body, semi-dry, and plesantly carbonated. Not too sweet neither initially nor in the end. Still, not my favorite vanilla porter in any way, it lacks a bit on complexity, but then it’s only 4.7% ABV. 130819

Dark Brown, Small Head, Decent Lacing. Very Faint Vanilla and Toast Aroma. Taste about the same, slightly Sweet Vanilla, chocolate, toasted malt, light bitter finish. High carbonation, Lighter than expected body. Could be thicker, otherwise pretty good. I had a shirt from Breckenridge, CO, a gift from sisters skiing trip. Finally, I’ve tasted my first beer from Breckenridge, CO, although I’ve received a t-shirt as a gift from my sister’s skiing trip, a while ago. Worth a try.

Tap at Mellow Mushroom, Charleston. It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is roasted malt, earth, caramel, light vanilla and a hint of malt vinegar. The taste is rich roasted, toast, ashy, earth, wood, salted caramel, burnt notes and liquorice with a dry, roasty finish. Run of the mill porter. So-so.

Bottle shared with Ariel at Beer Market Jaffa. BBOTM. Very dark ruby color. Sweet aroma of chocolate, vanilla and light roastiness. Sweet flavor, slightly roasty, with chocolate, nutty notes and lots of vanilla. Medium-bodied. Nice and easy drinking. Thought it was just OK at first, but it grew on me as I drank more.

Pours a thick, dark, oily brown with small, lasting head. Strong vanilla aroma. Flavor of chocolate, licorice, coffee, roasted nuts, all capped off with a rather sweetish vanilla over the top. A pretty tasty beer.
