Pours a thick, dark, oily brown with small, lasting head. Strong vanilla aroma. Flavor of chocolate, licorice, coffee, roasted nuts, all capped off with a rather sweetish vanilla over the top. A pretty tasty beer.

Tap at the Royal Tavern, Philly - 26/05/12. Very dark brown with a thin off-white head. Roasted malts, chocolate and a vague whiff of vanilla. Perhaps only sensed it because of the name of the beer? Roasted, slightly burnt malts in the taste, a little chocolate, not picking up vanilla. A little thin and on the watery side. Average carbonation. A tad disappointing!

Strong malty aroma. Pours with a suddy cream head without much tracing. Dark mahogany colour. Can’t smell much of the vanilla but you can sure taste it. It lingers on the tongue well after the malt taste dies away. Some chocolate notes in the smell as well. Decent beer. Bottle from Health Food Store in Lebanon, NH.

Bottle @ Brass Tap: Poured a black with tan head. Aroma is vanilla and chocolate. Very sweet chocolate with ever so light of baking vanilla, very smooth almost like a milk stout finish.

Bottle at home in NH, shared with Charlie. Pours brown with a foamy, light tan head. Slight roast and mild chocolate in the aroma, mild vanilla fo sho. Light to medium sweet flavor, heavy and almost sharp vanilla, rich bread. Medium bodied with average, smooth carbonation. Lightly sweet finish, sharp malts and vanilla, mild roast. The vanilla is too sharp overall, and the beer could stand to be a little sweeter (which might alleviate some of the abrasive vanilla). Otherwise, pretty decent stuff.

12oz bottle from Chuck’s poured into a Shaker. Pours a very dark brown with almost zero head. Slight aroma of vanilla. Not much here. Taste is medium-light sour(maybe I got a bad bottle?). Starts with a strong coffee taste and ends with some nice vanilla. Tastes much better than it smells. Light bodied with a thin yet creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a long sour finish. Overall, very good. Definitely worth buying a 6er of this one.

Pours deep mahogany into a Sam glass. Tan head with medium retention recedes leaving spider lacing. Mild vanilla and nutty toast aromas. Thin with sweet vanilla and chocolate upfront from front to back. Slight sour coconut in the dry and thin finish.

Whole lot more vanilla in here than a kiss. Dominant feature of the beer, actually, glossing over a weak, English-leaning porter by saturating every ounce with pure vanilla. Pours decent, kinda fizzy-looking, and, surprise, surprise, it smells so strong and sweet it could be hand soap. The vanilla goes way beyond clingy and cloying, and straight into absurdity. Bad. 12oz bottle. Deep amber-black, nice reddish-brown glow. Thin beige head. Malty, chocolate, vanilla aroma...pretty mild and not overly sweet. Really quite nice and sessionable. Pronounced vanilla bean flavor, sort of overwhelms the dark malt tones. An easy drinker, lots of milkshake flavors. Pretty well executed.
