Note: batch 5 and all subsequent batches are put into Red Wine Barrels (the batch number is printed on the label). All earlier batches were in White Wine Barrels and should not be rated here. Release 5 of Brainless on Cherries, has a new twist- we used Red Wine (cab and syrah) barrels for the second fermentation and aging as apposed to White Wine barrels. The result, dryer, lighter body, fruit shines thru and a bit of tannin and wood notes in the finish

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 2/8/13, Release # 13

Aroma: The nose has some sour cherries, wood, barnyard funk, and yeast
Appearance: It pours a reddish color with a small, quickly dissipating head and no lace
Flavor: The taste is on the tart side, with some wood, funk, wine, and fruity flavors
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has soft-to-average carbonation, and a dry, tart finish
Overall Impression:  I found this to be a fairly interesting and worth try offering. It has a nice tartness to it, some funkiness, and mustiness too.

On tap at Grumpy’s. Gold color. Soft carbonation. Real cherry flavor and aroma. Lightly swewt and pronounced Belgian yeast, which surprised me.

Bottle, release #12, 10.7%. Hazy pinkish purple color, pink head with fair retention. Aroma of vanilla, lemon, cherries, caramel. Taste is tannic cherries, slightly boozy edge, dry finish. Think I like the white wine version a bit better.

22oz bomber split with Anndiesel. Bright pink-red, thick and opaque. Thinnish bubbly head, soda-like. Some nice cherry in the aroma. I get way more wine notes than cherries in the flavor though. Sort of boozy, in a Boons Farm way. A decent, enjoyable strong beer, but I think the wine barrel kill it for me. They take away all subtlety, adding a vinous, boozy, cheap feel. Unique, but not to my liking.
