Note: batch 5 and all subsequent batches are put into Red Wine Barrels (the batch number is printed on the label). All earlier batches were in White Wine Barrels and should not be rated here. Release 5 of Brainless on Cherries, has a new twist- we used Red Wine (cab and syrah) barrels for the second fermentation and aging as apposed to White Wine barrels. The result, dryer, lighter body, fruit shines thru and a bit of tannin and wood notes in the finish

Draft in seattle. murky amber. no head. nose was tannic with grapes and sweet passionfruit. taste is decent, very boozy and every bit of alcohol comes through. cherries are there but mostly medicinal in taste.

11.4% release 14, bottle picked up from the distributors at the Yokohama Brewer’s Cup. It pours like a golden belgian ale with a heavy pink tint, the color is a light red with a sparkling wine like carbonation with no head. The aroma is a musty wine red with hints of sweet fruity cherries-some belgian notes sneak through. The taste is really boozy, bitter with a dry cherry finish. nice enough but it packs a high ABV punch which kind of overpowers everything else. I would prefer this to be in the 7-8% range. It is definitely too boozy which gives it a wine coolerish flavor profile. Not as good as what I was expecting, I preferred the Brainless on Peaches. -----had a later batch last night which seemed much less boozy. A deep ruby pour with an oaky cherry aroma. The taste is very tart and earthy not at all balanced but nice enough...

Bottle at home, from the Beer Shop LTD, E Longmeadow. Release #11. 10.7% ABV. Hazed crimson with little in the way of head. Nose is glazed cherries, booze, sugars. Taste comprises cherries, booze, sugars, berry fruits, cherry jam. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light sugars and booze. Bit of a one trick pony. All cherries and a slightly unrefined booze flavour. Drinkable but expected more !

Bottle from France 44. Pours ruddy orange with no head to speak of. Aroma has cherry notes. Certainly there is fruit. Med + body. Flavor is very oaky and the cherry is quite firm. It is very enjoyable.

12.05.2013, 0,65l bottle @ home:
Small shortlasting fizzy head. Aroma is sour red berries, redwine, grass, wood, rhubarb. Taste is fizzy and a little harsh, woody, grass, redwine, red berries, almond essence. Medium bitterness. Not really my kind of beer.

Vinous coriander nose, somewhat vegetal, but comes across minty, like the spit after you have just brushed your teeth. Crystal clear copper, headless.Tomatoes, toothpaste, cherries flavor. Odd and unpleasant. Tart, medium body, a little hot. There is so much wrong with this beer I hardly know where to begin. I love the brewery, dislike this series, despise this beer. Little redeeeming value.

Tannin and cherries are everywhere, but a bit one dimensional and doesn’t meld as nearly well as the Peaches. still OK though.
