Epic Brewing Company in Salt Lake City, Utah, United States 🇺🇸

Belgian Style - Strong Ale Regular
Score

ABV: 10.3% IBU: - Ticks: 66
Note: batch 5 and all subsequent batches are put into Red Wine Barrels (the batch number is printed on the label). All earlier batches were in White Wine Barrels and should not be rated here. Release 5 of Brainless on Cherries, has a new twist- we used Red Wine (cab and syrah) barrels for the second fermentation and aging as apposed to White Wine barrels. The result, dryer, lighter body, fruit shines thru and a bit of tannin and wood notes in the finish

Bottled. A hazy red beer with a fast disappearing orangey head. The aroma has notes of cherries and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of cherries, alcohol, wood, and straw, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 65 cl. Label print says "Release #12, 10.7% ALC./ VOL.) Pours a hazy pinkish with a small white head. Dry cherry aroma, quite some alcohol too. Medium body, cherries really deliver in the flavour, has this marzipan touch and again a little boozy. There’s a rubbery edge to it. Not unpleasantly so. Actually a rather satisfying cherry beer - no yeastiness and not overly sweet. 100912

Sampled on tap at PIB, pours a cloudy bright orange amber with a small white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, some cherries and doughy malt. Flavour is fruit-forward with Belgian yeast, slight cherries, low sweetness. No sourness or essentially no sweetness. Good incorporation of the cherries.

Bomber shared with anderson01. Pours hazy orange with a medium purple long-retaining head. Taste is full and fruity, meaty, cherries are strong. Body is full. Nice fruit beer. Thanks, Billy-bob.

Bottle, thanks to Ken. It pours pinkish amber, with a thin off-white head. The nose is red grape, vinous, sweet-sour, almond and marzipan. The taste is syrupy cherry, artificial notes, tanginess, wood, earth and alcohol warmth. Light-medium body, prickly carbonation and slightly syrupy mouth-feel. So-so.

Bottle shared at Craft. Light haze on this amber beer. Tidy white head. Very light palate, semi crisp and semi dry. Light malt with very light cherry. Dry finish. Surprisingly insipid. Disappointing.

Bottle (Release 8) at the CBC First Birthday Party, London. Thanks to Ken, I think. Pours clear, ruby-gold with a light, white head. Some fruity, malty sugars on the nose. Big and sweet flavor with some strawberries and cherries, along with sugar and caramel. Full bodied with average carbonation. Mild warmth in the finish with sticky sugars, ripe and semi-ripe fruits, sweet bread, light caramel and faintly tangy fruits. It’s a very sweet beer.

Bottle at Craft. Pale red haze no head. Ok kind of not cherryish. Some fruit but a bit under whelmed fruit wise too much alcohol
