A brown ale, well hopped for the style. Expect the malt to dominate over a good bitterness and complimenting hop profile.

Bottle from the Bottle Mix, Kettering. Light to mid-brown, hazy with a huge foamy off-white head. Woody aroma with some astringent notes. There's also a heavy, almost smoked, malt element. Bittersweet taste, and there's more astringency up to the finish. Light sarsaparilla notes in the aftertaste. Heavy carbonation. A mixed bag.

Hazy amber - brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth earthy malts, some light malt cream. Yeast. Some apple in there. Light finish brings modest bitterness and spice. Blackjack are better than this.

Third, on tap at Bundobust. Clear dark amber body under a small off-white head. Dusty hops on the nose, mid-sweet earthy malts beneath. Flavoured with dried fruits, nuts, and herbal hops. Malt-fruity bitterness to ending. Medium bodied. Satisfying (Leeds 08.07.2015).
