8/7/2020. Sample courtesy of the SHIG, cheers! Rating #11100. Pours mid to dark brown with a good size long lasting foamy off-white head. Nice looking pour. Aroma is nutty, toffee, malt and alcohol soaked dried fruits. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Medium body, slight creamy texture, soft carbonation. Some developing bitterness and a light tart edge comes through. Liked it.

Bottle purchased at the brewery before it closed: Poured a mahogany brown almost black with a finger thick light brown head. Aroma is strong alcohol, nutty, rich malts, dark fruits. Taste is rich and nutty, sweet malts, light molasses or brown sugar. The taste is so much better than the nose.

Unclear, dark brown, medium creamy beige head. Aroma is of malt, some caramel, toffee, nutty, some fruits notes, some chocolate, bit herbal hops. Taste is medium sweet malt, caramel, toffee, nuts, bit fruity, brown sugar, bit of chocolate, medium bitterness, some herbal hops. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bit creamy. OK, but not amazing. 2016 catch up - A very well made brown ale with the malt and sweetness you would expect. Exceptionally smooth (as you would expect from the brewery) and a very nice mouthfeel. Served at the right temperature and perfect on its own. I really couldn’t taste the alcohol.

Gravity cask at the CAMRA National Winter Ales Festival, Norwich. Palish brown, very translucent. Astringent and slightly sulphurous smell. Taste starts sweet and nutty before turning to an intensely medicinal (but never unpleasant) bitter. Aftertaste resplendent with hazelnut. A brilliant nut brown ale.

Bottleshare on the England Football team night of shame! Thanks to Leighton. Almost opaque brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is airy and semi dry. Smooth malts, mellow dark character. Mild spice into spicy esters. Light semi dry finish. To be frank, a typically okay beer from this brewery.
