'Twas a sunny morn in mid-2012 when we first laid our eyes upon the man - nay the myth! - sweet sweet kissmeyer. Our hearts aflutter, filled with excitement and trepidation, we embarked on the journey of a lifetime to produce this here [n.b. find better word for "whopper"] of a beer. Some people say this mighty ale is so complex that complexity is not complex enough an adjective to describe it. Those people are us.

Fare thee well Josh tasting at Bruce’s. Thanks to Josh for this beer, relieved to find it is a beer and not a porno flick he picked up in Copenhagen! Very hazy brown beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and semi dry. Nice toffee malt with caramel and coconut. Little vanilla and biscuit and tangy fruits. Touch of cherry. Finishes light and spicy. A winner!

Bottle at Josh’s Farewell tasting, thanks to the man of the moment - Far out ! 20/02/14. Hazed orange amber with moderate off white edgework. Nose is rich on dark fruits, dark toffee, whisp of booze, prunes, mellow pitted fruit notes, woody twang. Taste comprises coconut shavings, dark toffee, vanilla fudge, light wine BA twang, dark fruit rinds. Full bodied, fine carbonation, lightly warming booze in the close. Solid barley wine, well integrated alcohol for 14.6%, good depth of flavours, never gets to sweet.

Bottle shared for Josh’s farewell fiesta. Thanks to Josh himself for this one, pours hazy golden-brown with a frothy white head. Old wood on the nose, some dry toffee, aged fruits. Medium sweet flavor with rich malt character, more toffee, alcohol, honey, dates, figs. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with definite aged character, more toffee and honey, rich bread, dry wood. Lots of complexity here. Punchy and wonderful.

Bottle thanks to J-Dogg. It pours murky deep brown with a minimal beige heard. The nose is brown bread, fruit cake, raisin, candied peel, honey, wood and brown sugar. The taste is rich, juicy, fruit cake, plummy, faint vinous, wood, grape peel, toffee, wood, plum skin and earth with a dry finish. Medium-full body, fine carbonation and oily mouth feel. Nice depth. Solid.

Pours murky brown with a small head.Nose shows rich sweet syrupy malt with some soft oxidative notes, a little booze, gingerbread, spicy phenols and a red wine note. Lovely.Sweet flavours. Oxidative notes, brown sugar, woody notes, soft tannins and a strong port character. Some booze but it’s reasonable well integrated.Nice syrupy body and light carbonation.Great stuff.
