On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - amber with a decent head. Nose - biscuit citrus and light toffee. Taste - more of the same. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - it had a decent amount going on.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Cask. Clear amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, semi dry and has modest fine carbonaton. Light malts, a trace of tangy caramel. Mild citric peel in to dried friuts. Some strong floral bitterness in the light semi dry finish. Not bad.

Handpull cask at the Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford. Light brown, translucent, quite a lot of carbonation. Scent of cola, caramel, along with stout aromas such as chocolate and coffee. Sweet and malty, almost cloying. There is a bittering hop taste but the bitterness and sweetness don’t balance, but rather seem to exacerbate one another. Still fairly tasty, although the palate is a bit thin.

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. A deep golden amber colour with a thin cream head; lightly spiced aroma; chewy malts with some spicy hops; and a lingering earthy bitterness. A very good strong bitter.
