One of Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews. Carnegie Porter was brewed for the first time in 1836 and tastes the same today as it did then. Carnegie Porter has a creamy head with a scent of coffee. Its sweet and well rounded flavor is balanced by the bitterness of the hops. Storage helps the flavor mature and enhances its harmony.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Originally rated on 22.7.2009. Taste is quite sweet and light for a porter, but otherwise an okay beer.

Appeareance - Dark ruby. Thick off white head. Low carbonation. Aroma - Rich dark malt, treacle, bit of port and marmite, light roast. Taste - Very malty, low hop bitterness, sweet, marmite notes, dark fruits (figs). Alcohol well hidden. Short sweet malt finish with a slight bitterness. Unusual interesting porter, very concentrated malt with a bit of prune. However, just the one botttle is enough.

330 cl bottle from Systembolaget. 2010 vintage. Dark brown/black colour with reddish hue. Medium, beige head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and some wood. Taste starts a little sweet and ends more bitter. Feels very balanced. Medium mouthfeel with little carbonation. A bit watery, otherwise good. The best thing to come out of Carlsberg...

33cl bottle from ABCBeers A cheeky porter. Quite decent despite coming from Carlsberg, probaly the worst lager in the world (i think only Brits will understand this joke)

Have been lucky enough to try this porter in a 20 year old vintage, but even the younger vintages tastes very good. Dark colour with little head. Strong taste. A very good porter.

pitch black color with no head, label say ARANG 2004, which I suppose means 2004 vintage. flavor is of roasted malts with a twinge of soapy cleanliness to it, almost medicinal, and if I remember correctly, Michael Jackson’s 500 Classic Brews says it has some egg extract for something in it, so very enjoyable indeed.

500 ml bottle into English pint. Says "Best before May 2014." Pours an impervious black with a medium tan head that collapses in a couple minutes, leaving a fine bubbly blanket of foam and some watery lace. Aroma is Whoppers candy, chocolate milk, a little coffee. Taste is all sweet with no bitterness; faintly sour in the finish. Has a definite Euro-dark-beer flavor. Medium-low carbonation with a somewhat thin body. Not bad.

Clear dark brown beer, not much head. Light smooth porter with a very easy going taste. No bitterness or dryness and just the barest hint of somthing smoky. Tame porter but quite drinkable.
