Keg @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours gold with white head. Has a sharp, pronounced bitterness ruling the palette. A little obtrusive at first but give it a few sips and it really starts to settle in, its bite unrelenting but adding a welcome edge to an otherwise grassy lager character.

Earl Of Essex. Keg. Light haze on this gold beer, small white head. Palate is light and semi dry, good crispness. Nice sweet bready pale malts. Mild marmalade, trace of lemon. Mild floralness. Light crisp finish. Nice lager, has some actual lager character as well as hops!

Keg at Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Golden-amber with a thin white head and light fizz. Lovely fresh tropical hoppy whiff- peach and melon and lychee. On tasting it the more traditional lager flavour of grass comes to the fore, but more assertively than is usual for a lager and with a crisp bitterness to boot. As lagers go this is pretty decent actually.

Tap. Friends of Ham, Leeds. Clear, dark gold. Thin, lasting, white head. Sweet malts. Grassy hop. Some oily citrus hop. Taste is crisp dry, with a zesty, grassy hop bitterness. Clean palate. Some sharpness. Finishes sharp, zingy bitter. Nice, crisp, hoppy lager. Good stuff.
