Bottle at home. Aroma of malts, bourbon, plenty of vanilla, oak, caramel toffee, syrup, some dried fruits. Flavour is heavy sweet and a bit boozy. Some bitterness in the aftertaste. Body is full, mouthfeel a bit sticky. Massive and sweet, a beast of a Barley Wine. Just a tad too cloying for me to be a true winner.

(Bottle) Hazy brownish amber colour with brief, foamy head. Malty, fruity, vinous nose with notes of caramel, treacle-toffee, grain, dried fruit, raisins, figs, orange peel, wood and a touch of cinnamon. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, toffee, rye bread, dried fruit, figs, brown sugar, oak wood, vanilla, hints of bourbon, chocolate and a mild spicy bitterness in a vinous finish. Full body, quite sweet. Vinous and warming, with a balanced touch of bourbon. Really well balanced, with the 15% fairly well hidden. Excellent beer!

Had this on tap "young" way back when (with Julien Huxley @ Arendsnest), but this bottle I kept for another 5 years. Pours a clear deep ruby colour and a frothy beige head with short retention. Aroma's: lots of (dried) fruit, raisins, dried plum, tutti frutti, vanilla, light wood, lots of sweetness. Retronasal it's sweet, vanilla, wood, boozy. Flavour is moderate heavy sweet, balanced by the fruit. Warming alcohol without being too sharp. Medium bodied (I think it's lost some). Long finish, sweet, woody. Still very nice!

Bottle. dark amber color. Heavy malt, vanilla and dominating bourbon in the aroma. Dried fruit. Full bodied. Quite alcoholic. Lots of bourbon, vanilla, hint of sulphur. Dried fruit. Firestones. Interesting. Needs time to mellow down.

Bottle split at Leighton's 20K, thanks to the man himself, 01/03/17. Rich amber pour with a decent off white cap. Nose is big on dark fruit, spice, toffee, stewed dates, caramel, light barrel. Taste comprises ripe fruit, spice, oak, caramel, sticky toffee pudding, sweet malts, figs. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a rising boost offered. Decent enough barley wine .... good balance but no Wow factor offered.

Bottle at Leighton’s 20K tasting, thanks to the main man himself. It pours clear rich orange - amber with a small white head. The aroma is rich, oily, sweet, pretty juicy, tangy, toasted brown bread, cinammon roll, toffee and cake. The taste is rich, bitter - sweet, warming booze, vanilla, fudge, leather, wood, chewy malt, varnish, peppery spice and some drying bourbon. Finish is leathery and hot. Full body and fine carbonation. A bit harsh and boozy to be honest.

Bottle shared at home. Dark deep reddish amber with thin offwhite head. Sweet roasted barley malts, bourbon, vanilla, hazlenut, caramel, chocolate, raisans, malaga, oak, bread, alcohol, bandaids. Big sweet and moderate bitter. Full body, almost no carbonation. Syruppy feel, alcoholic pucker, roasty bittersweet finish. Starts good with some amazing aroma notes, but later on becomes more and more medicinal/alcoholic. The other aromas don’t stand up against it. Last sips were bandaid vodka.

Bottle at home. Deep reddish brown with lots of tiny floaters and small beige head. Massive bourbon, red berries, caramel, toffee, lots of dried stone fruits, old wood, maple syrup, cinnamon. Quite sweet but also a decent balancing amount of bitterness and light tart touch. Full bodied with alcoholic finish. A bit over the top maybe, but very pleasant to sip slowly.
