Bottle split at RB Best Encomium share, Santa Rosa, 30/01/16 - Many Thanks ! Pitch black with a well presented tan head. Nose is dark fruit rinds, chocolate, light black peppery spice, toffee melt, barrel tang. Taste comprises chocolate, dried fruits, spice, booze licks, molasses, mellow roast. Full bodied, fine to oily mouth, warming alcohol and spice bite in the close. Decent enough impy but too hot for my liking.

Bottle thanks to 50brlair! Pours inky black, medium tan head, dissipates quickly, minimal lacing. Aroma is heavy chocolate, roast, bourbon, vanilla, and coconut. Flavor is quite sweet, light bitter, hints of anise. Medium plus body. Solid.

Bomber courtesy of tkrjukoff. Pours viscous black with a small creamy mocha head that leaves a thin ring of lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is rich and malty with roasted malts, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, rich dark chocolate, coffee, toasted coconut, moist soil, black pepper corns and bourbon and rye whiskey alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, very tiny sour, malty and earthy. Mouthfeel is soft, creamy, viscous, round, tiny astringent, very tiny tart, slightly boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet, slightly bitter and very tiny sour with roasted malts, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, dark chocolate, coffee, dark grapes, prunes, moist soil, toasted nuts and alcohol. Really good imperial stout but the light tartness bugs me a bit. --- Beer merged from original tick of Friday on 16 Jan 2016 at 13:53 - Score: 8. Original review text: Really good BA impy with the regular low roast rich cycle malt base. Light tartness that bugs me slightly.

Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours black with small beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is roasted malt, cocoa, wood, vanilla. Thick mouth, chewy, chocolate, roast, bourbon, very nice.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a tiny tan head. Aroma brings out chocolate fudge, light bourbon, and even a slight hint of oxidation. Flavour is quite decadent, with pure chocolate fudge, followed by whiskey barrels, and light vanilla. This gets better and better with each sip. Loads of whisky but without the alcohol burn. Wonderfully crafted. Just a really excellent BA stout.

Bottle shared. Pours near black with a small beige head. Aroma of fudge, toffee, chocolate, soft roast, vanilla, light bourbon, oak, light coffee and a little soy. Flavour is light heavy sweet and light moderate bitter, with barrel notes coming out stronger in the palate. Light thick oily mouthfeel. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle courtesy of kippah. Aroma is fairly alcohol and barrel forward. Nice oak, coconut and almond notes. Moderate chocolate notes with faint roast. Pours jet black with a faint mocha head that quickly disappears. No lacing and moderate legs. Low lacing and moderately long legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with a lot of chocolate and some light roast notes. Lots of barrel notes without being hot. Nice alcohol notes. Nice barrel notes. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a pretty nice stout with tons of barrel character without getting hot. Good chocolate notes and moderate sweetness.
