Rye Catcher is an American Rye beer brewed in collaboration with Glenn Payne. Rye and rye crystal malts provide a spicy malt base and a vibrant copper colour to this beer which is powerfully hopped with Apollo, Columbus, Amarillo and Citra hops from the USA, producing an assertive bitterness with robust flavours of citrus and grapefruit.

Cask-conditioned at the City Arms, Cardiff 18/3/2015. Amber in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Earthy malts, a hint of caramel, some orange fruits and moderately bitter finish. Good.

White Hart, Nicholsons. Cask. Clear amber beer, small pale cream coloured head. Palate is light and smooth and a little dry. Modest carbonation. Good marmalade hops, touch of fresh orange. Whispers of lemon and hop spice. Smooth dry finish. Pretty decent if a tad flat.

Hand-pulled half-pint at The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 1st May 2014, one of thirty four hand-pulls available at their beer festival. Red hue to this amber brew, a beige head sat on top. Dry and Rye with something else in the mix: I thought it different and interesting, the guy next to me hated it! Mild citrus notes gave it a extra twist and overall it pleased me, the 5% ABV being well hidden by the flavours and dryness.

Cask @ Old Wellington, Manchester. Brighter amber coloured with a thin head. Has peach notes in both its aroma and taste with some grainy malts also evident. Fairly thin.

Keg @ The Rake. I really need to take more notes when I go out to these places. All I can remember is this tasted great, the rye really taking a back seat to those hops and a good bracing bitterness.
