Bottled. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, caramel, and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, caramel, alcohol, and whiskey, leading to a dry alcoholic finish. Too much whiskey for my taste.

Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell 10/9/2015. Many thanks to MannyG for this one. Viscous black brown coloured pour with a halo of grayish cream coloured head. Aroma is sweet toasted coconut, solvent, marzipan, sweet caramel. Flavour is composed of woody, boozy, oak, roasted coconut, nutty choc and smooth roast. Palate is full bodied, viscous, sweet with moderate carbonation. Really liked this one.

Draught at Lulu’s 9/27/15.
Seemingly opaque, dark ebony body is topped by a tan/dark beige head that is small but shows good retention for a barrel-aged beer.
Lots of tobacco, vanilla, light oak and some vinousness in the nose gives way to some baker’s chocolate and ash on the finish. The bourbon here is presented as one aspect of the beer, thank god and is quite delightful. Alcohol held in check, with no flaws.
In the mouth it’s fairly dry, quite attenuated and shows oily roast, ash, vanilla and only light touches of bourbon. No gooey chocolate cake, harsh tannins or raw alcohol. AND shockingly, the oak isn’t overdone as it is in almost all of their other oaked beers. Perhaps not the complexity of the very best Imperials, but very well-done, not over done (which is huge) and actually quite enjoyable for someone who is not a big stouthead. Grimm is so hit or miss!
