Bottle at home, 27/12/19. Black with a decent khaki head that dissipates edgeward. Nose is dusty fruits, chocolate, mellow roast, sweet malts, caramel wafer. Taste comprises sweet fruit cake load, figs, dates, toffee, light chocolate, dark malts, syrup. Full bodied, oily mouthfeel, warming alcohol at the curtain call. Fun enough impy stout with an old skool base ... of a little sweet and cloying at times.

330ml bottle, 12.8%. Pours jet black with a modicum of a tan head. Aroma; heavy malty, dark treacle, liquorice, hint of coffee Taste: moderate to heavy sweet, rich, roasted malts, dark fruits, liquorice, chocolate & maple syrup. Medium bodied, very light carb, sweet roasty finish. In contrast to others that have rated this I didn't feel it was particularly smooth or well balanced. Still a decent beer though

@Indyman - Black with coffee-esque head. Rich, sweet aroma with slight boozy background. Really thick and oily. Maple syrup sweetness and perhaps some sweet Bourbon-like qualities.

Black with a milk chocolate head. Flowery liquor aroma cut with strong overtones of chocolate and toffee. Alcohol dominates taste (no surprise there!) but subdued by coffee and salted caramel notes.

Cask at the Euston tap. Viscous black caramel colour. Thin tan head. Good legs. Nose is fudge some treacle and higher alcohols. Flavour is sweet toffee boozy oak and alcohol. Melts on the tongue. Big barley wine sort of thing going on with some Belgian yeast influence. I enjoyed it even on a hot humid summers night. .

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines drank at home; pours almost jet black with a thin brown head, the aroma is coffee with a hint of chocolate, it has a silky smooth mouthfeel. It tastes of coffee with a fruity undertone. Love the bottle artwork and name.
