Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 5/2/2013. Deep amber with a frothy, off-white head. A malty brew, with some chewy, biscuity grans, red fruits and a touch of hazelnut, before a bitter, slightly toasty finish. Ok.

20th June 2012: hand-pulled pint in my local Spoons. The second beer from this brewery in a day, had a pint of Piston Broke at lunch-time, didn’t rate that too highly either. Malty home brew came to mind when I tasted this. Brown body with a thin off-white head. Smell of grains and coal with baked biscuits mashed in, the taste wasn’t far from that: add a hop maybe. Not something I’ll be having again, in fact I’ll not be buying anything from this brewery again unless I find something really interesting and it comes recommended.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Deep tawny with a red gleam and a thin beige head; malty aroma with some autumn fruit - apples, pears, and plums; the taste is sweet and fruity to start, but unfortunately very thin and watery; before a dry, toasted, toffee finish. Reminds me of Hobgoblin.

Cask at Gate House (Wetherspoon’s) Highgate London on 22nd April 2012. Reddish with no head or lace. Sour and sweet aroma with blackcurrant and perfume. Sweet and vinous in-mouth, as a sweet white wine. Grape and a few herb notes in aftertaste. Mouthfeel flat and watery. Did not finish.
