Retro review from Spring 2012 Wetherspoons Beer festival; dark brown pour minimal head had a session on this and it gave me a powerful hangover. Dried fruit taste.

Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival 2012. Weak texture, but bettered by a superbly subtle berryness for its flavour.

Shakespeare’s Head Spoons, Holborn. Clear amber beer, little white head. Light dry palate. Sweetish fruits of the forest. Mildly sweet pale malt underneath. Pretty dry finish. Okay fruit beer but too dry.

[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading] Deep amber. Chocolate and wood up front, with raspberry (well, loganberry!) following through, along with a hint of raspberry leaves and fresh blackcurrants. The Bramling Cross hops work really well with the fruit here. It’s on the sweet side, but there’s just enough wood and leaf to balance. It’s a strange and interesting creation, and one that I rather enjoyed - although I’m sure many others will hate it.

Cask at the Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear, red-gold with a fine foam head. Berries and toasted hay in the aroma. Medium sweet flavor, more berries, light sweet leaves, some crispy and toasty straw. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with lasting blueberries and other berries. An OK fruity bitter-like beer.

Cask @ Wetherspoon, Liverpool Street. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are berries, caramel and hops. Earthy and a bit odd. Not the best combination.

Cask @ JDW Elgin
Copper amber...clear.....thin dense white head
Aroma - berry fruits....raspberry....sweet...nothing else
Taste - berry fruits...raspberry...bit of blackcurrant...faint hint of beer underneath...no complexity
Palate - soft carb....thin to medium body...soft juicy fruits on palate come out more in the middle. Finish - as main flavour - rapid finish of berry fruits
Overall -Very little going on here..soft berry raspberry over a very light beer base. That’s it - it doesn’t taste awful but is very boring
