(Cask at Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell, London, 23 Nov 2011) Reddish brown colour with foamy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried fruit, caramel and sour cherries. A hint of cinnamon? Malty, roasted taste with oak wood, vanilla, sour cherries and a bitter-sweet finish with a touch of chocolate. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Interesting and quite different. Not everyone will like it, but after some contemplating I found it very nice.

Cask at CP&K. It pours dark ruby, with a decent beige head. The nose is bitter-sweet, sweet cherry, caramel and roasted malt. The taste is caramel, resin, sweet cherry, roasted malt, tangy fruit, touch of smoke, leather and wood, with a bitter-sweet finish. Medium body, soft carbonation and slightly syrupy mouth-feel. Ok, but not my sort of thing.

Cask at the Craft Beer Co., London. Pours dark brown with a huge, light tan head. Sour dark malt nose, with some dough and tart cherries. Nice flavor, medium sweet, with mild roasted malts, tart cherries definitely, some tart and borderline sour dark malts. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation, very smooth. Decent if moderate cherry character in the finish, slightly tart, with some dark sugars. Not bad.

Craft Beer Co. Cask handpull. Too dark cherry too hoppy and its the hop that gives it up here. Love Fyne ales but if you want a sweetish dark cherry and dark choc beer then hops are too much for this beer. Good condition good beer. Sweet dark cherry but too much hops that dont marry with the sweetness.

On gravity at the Factoberfest, the Tobacco Factory, Bristol 17/09/2011. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of sour cherries, bitter chocolate and roasted malts. Flavour began with some berry fruit sweetness, before more chocolate, a touch of liquorice and tart finish. Excellent.
