5th October 2011
Crosse Keys Spoons. Clear gold beer. Residual white head. Light dry palate. The ginger has an odd perfumey floral quality. No real heat. Dusty notes. Mild minerals. Dry finish. Odd!

[Cask at Wetherspoons, Milton Keynes] Amber, moderate off-white head, slight fizz. Soap, ginger and cardboard. A poor beer, but it’s better than the other "flavoured" beer at this Spoons festival (Taking the Pith).

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. Amber with a ring of white head; aroma of sweet root ginger and orange; clean root ginger flavour, light and slightly sweet; then becoming drier with a hoppy rather than ginger finish. Pleasantly different to other ginger beers, lacking the fire of ground ginger.

Cask at The Crosse Keys, JDW, London. Pours clear, rich gold with a slight head. Big ginger nose. Medium sweet, plenty of ginger, bit of bread, some sugar. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mild ginger sting, sugar, bread. Nice enough.
