This is the 2010 remix of this brewery’s classic ‘Stairway To Heaven’, brewed especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. The hops used are evident in both the aroma and flavour, combining with top-quality malts to give an intense drinking experience which will change musical preferences.

Half pint from cask at Standing Order (JDW). Low, off-white head with a slight haze to a copper coloured body. Rather discreet expression of dried fruit to the nose. The flavour profile is an interesting mix of dried apples and dark malts. A bit jam-like. Dry bitter tail. Tasty (Edinburgh, 29.11.2010).

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. Hazy amber with a dense cream head; aroma of apricot and other tropical fruit; smooth and soft consistency with some sour apricot fruit flavours muddled with some sweet bread; then a dry yeasty finish. This was drinkable but rather confused.

Cask-conditioned at the Monks Retreat, Reading 7/11/10. amber with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of citrus and apricot fruit, with some earthy malts. Yeasty, stone fruit flavour with plenty of citrus hops in the finish. Good.

cask at standing order ... golden amber ... thin white head ... light sweet fruit nose ... odd woody smoke ... syrupy fruits ... but very odd mokeyness.

Cask, handpump at The Babbington, JDW, Derby, Derbyshire 06.11.10 This tastes a little sourish, its tangy and fruity with a little citrussy hoppiness showing. I would have done a more in depth rating but both Dad and Loz weren’t impressed with this and took it back, I didn’t agree though wasn’t that struck by it. A6 A3 T6 P3 Ov11 12.9

Spoons Fest! Hazy amber beer, residual suddy white head. Smooth dry palate. Lemony hops with a very unusual sweet lime aspect. Orange too! Very nice tangy fruit that just keeps going. Finishes dry. Unusual and very drinkable.
