Enjoyed this special beer at Kulminator in Belgium. Review from notes.

A - Bright hazy / cloudy gold. It’s a gorgeous fluffy 1 finger white head.

S - Smells of brown sugar, oak and sweet brown sugar. Hint of tropical fruits..apricots, pineapple? There’s a spiciness like pepper as well.

T - Lovely. Fills the mouth with a coy sweetness of light citrus followed by cracked peppercorn. Candied sugar, oatmeal and grape skins. It has a very rich and full finish.

M - Slightly boozy, hint of astringency and bubbly tingle like a sparkling wine.

O - This beer left me wanting to try other vintages of this remarkable creation. Nearly perfect and an insanely fun beer to drink. 12 oz so you don’t want to share it with friends.

Bottle @ De Heeren van Liedekercke. Clear amber with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit, spicy, port and alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish with warming alcohol. This has aged beautifully. 20072012

Bottle @ Kulminator. Clear dark orange appearance with a moderate sized off white head. Holy fucking shit, this is dusty. After a fuckload (that’s a technical term, FYI) of dust, you get light citrus, some floral elements, must, light yeast, and straw in the aroma. Tangy, earthy, citrusy, very spicy, straw, super-fucking (another technical term) dusty flavor. Wow, this may have been the most perplexing beer of my trip so far. It was very hard for me to drink, as it was somewhat boozy, had a burning spiciness, and a ton of dust. The closest thing that I can think of that this tasted like is if you were to go into an old corn crib or barn that had been relatively undisturbed for several years and licked a wall. I really hope to try it again, but this time was an unpleasant experience all around. (5/4/5/3/10=2.7)

Bottle @ Stephen’s house, big thanks to arminjewell. Thank you! Big fruity, mango, orange citrusy, candy sugar, light caramel, fairly funky, tart nose. Chewy, cinnamon spicy, caramel, spicy dark chocolate, a bit bready, somewhat oxidized flavor that’s way better than my last time. A ton of spice and really no notice of dust like my previous experience. Some tartness on the finish. Pretty fun beer to drink- completely different from last time. Stupidly easy to drink. I’m updating my rating accordingly.(7/4/10/4/17=4.2)

Bottle at Mikkeller Bar. Probably one of the beers highest on my want list. Clear, amber liquid with small off-white head. Aroma is reminiscent of the regular Stille Nacht with notes of Cachaça, candy, raw sugar, red apples, caramel, oak/wine barrel, port wine, booze and some light dark fruit. Wonderful! Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of caramel and lots of raw sugar. Medium bodied with light carbonation and sticky mouthfeel. Delicious and really fun to have tried. Sadly, a bit more boozy than the regular one at about the same age.

Bottle shared at the Philly tasting. A hazy burnt orange pour with a white head. Yeast, apricots, raisins, and earthy aromas. Medium in body with low carbonation. Slightly tart with strange fruit combinations you would find in trail mix, with some honey, malty notes, Belgian yeast and maybe a hint of apple.

Bottle at Kulminator in March 2012. Slightly hazy dark golden with a medium white head. The aroma was quite special with earth, dried fruits, yeast. Also some alcohol. I think that the taste was better than the aroma, complex with much going on. Honey, toffee, earth, dried fruits. Also notes of yeast and malt. A good beer me think, but not quite as good as expected. I wish that I could try the 2000 someday.....

10/30/2011 33 cl. bottle/shared@Kulminator: hazy orange with a white head, taste is bitter peach, lots of thick yeast, very yeasty, lacto, candy, hint of yoghurt, spices, dough, some malt, caramel, plenty of esters, vintage taste, alcohol in the finish, very weird beer + 15/07/2018 Actually liked it a lot more now, crisp & clean actually with sweet Calvados, esters & thinned in a good way Stille Nacht profile, oxidation is barely there 3.7 -> 4.3

330ml bottle, courtesy of Fonefan. Thanks, Jan! Tasted side by side with a regular 2008 vintage. Funky, acidic nose, lactic yogurt, dried fruits, grape and cherry, milk candy. Very impressive. Aged and somewhat oxidized. Deep, clear amber with a touch pf lace. Oxidized, creamy, vanilla, pear, vinegar, oak, a bit of smoke, creamy cheese too.    Completely different beast to the non-Reserva version! Still strong alcohol, hot and rather bitter finish, mostly hot. Smooth, silky, oily palate. Very light, soft carbonation. Wonderful palate. Fabulous. I will probably never try the 2000, but this was an experience
