22 oz. bottle 2012 vintage. Black liquid with fleeting tan head. Aroma is a burst of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. The flavor is more of the same with coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. Still has noticeable alcohol notes which really shocked me after nearly 12 months of cellar. I guess it should have sat another year? Maybe I built this up in my mind because it wasn’t mind blowing in the flavor department. Good and drinkable but nothing that I have to run to Western MA to get again.

On tap at ACBF 6/1/2013 Fruity roasty caramel toffee butterscotch mess. This has been an elusive brew for me I finally got to try it and I feel a little let down.

12 oz. bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks Dany!), split with Matts_Property, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of licorice, smoked malt, wood, whiskey, unsweetened dark cocoa, and some sweetness. Flavour of leather, wood, smoked malt & peat, dark cocoa, and slight licorice. Silky, oily texture, with a leathery finish. Very solid.

2009 Bottle, Number 1112 (Hand Written): Very dark brown coloured body with a thin, fast-dying brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, a ton of hops, pine, alcohol, peat and a bunch of anise - nice and strong. Full-bodied; Chewy malty, chocolatey and coffee flavours really come through with an almost meal-like thickness - crazy! Very sweet aftertaste with a touch of vanilla pods, caster sugar, milk chocolate and a good rich oaky flavour. Overall, a very nice beer that is more like a chocolate pie than a beer - very deep and luscious with a thick feel, very nice! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Colonial Spirits in Acton, Massachusetts on 23-September-2010 sampled at home in Washington on 15-June-2011 in celebration of the Boston Bruins winning the Stanley Cup (I’m not a Boston fan, but I’m glad they beat Vancouver!) in 2011.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thindark brown head. Tbe aroma has notes of roasted malt, wood, and soy sauce. The flavor is sweet with notes of wood, soy sauce, roasted malt, and tar, leading to a dry roasted, and woody finish.
