Cask handpull at the Ledger Building (JDW), Canary Wharf. Looking forward to this from the reviews. Deep brown, lasting cream head. Its a malty brown bitter like what used to be made. Bit more to it than that though the finish has nuts and dates and is rather wonderful. Finish is so long and deep and malty and fruity and lovely. Awesome.

14th April 2010. Clear dark amber beer. Small white head. Light dry palate. Full on darkish malt - this feels like a porter! Rich dark malt and a trace of coffee and smoke. Some non bitter orangey hop coming through towards the end. A porter in brown ale clothing!

[Gravity cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Rather a lifeless orangey-brown colour with a thin beige head. Sweet coffee and malt through and through. Body rather thin. OK.

Cask @ Society Room, JDW. Dark copper colour, tan head. Aroma of caramel, toasted malts, nuts. Flavour is caramel malts, roasted malts, nutty, chewy indeed, fruits. Fairly bitter, slightly dry. Very drinkable.

Cask, gravity dispensed, at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Poured a copper colour with no head; classic brown ale aroma of roasted malts; chewy malt flavours with a touch of smoke; and a bitter, caramel, finish. Very good.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 13/03/10. Medium brown in colour with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of chocolate, nuts and a touch of roasted malt. Flavour began with sweet caramel and chocolate, before some dried fruit and decent bitter finish. Very good.
