Two years following the original collaboration which created Chalky’s Bite - Rick Stein asked Sharp’s once again to work with him in creating a unique new beer. This time, the novel ingredient would be ginger. In Chalky’s Bark, ginger works in synergy with continental hops and gives a spicy lemon-fruit nose. The heat of ginger lifts the gently-sweet body and contrast beautifully with citrus fruitiness in the mouth. As with Chalky’s Bite it is conditioned in the brewery and in the bottle for four months.

Lett-drikkelig.

Bottled. Goldeny orange colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is malty, mildly bready and biscuity and also has some floral and herbal notes. Flavour is fruity, biscuity, mildly caramelly as well as quite herbal. Pleasantly balanced.

Bottle from the Penzance co-op. Pours very bright gold with a transient white head. Aromas are floral, light stone fruit and spice. Med body. Mild fruit flavor, and something lightly hot or spicy - could well be ginger. Decent drink, but stronger flavor might be an improvement.

Hey a Christmas present that was actually useful (unlike the onion cutter from my Mother that broke the first time I used it. Gold with a slight haze and very thin white head. Advertised as a beer with ginger so I should like it. Aroma of sherbert hop and some ginger. Its ok in the mouth. More sherbert hop with touch of soap. Malts are just about ok in that they are pale and give a little structure but nothing more than barely adequate. Light with some ginger flavour rather than Bark. Still a nice enough aperatif. Some orange blossom throughout.
