Bottle, from historic notes. Source not recorded. Poured amber with an off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malt, hops, fruit and biscuit. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Moderate body, slight oily texture. Above average Marston's bottle.

Sept 2007: from BA. Englands cricket team beat India today to win the series of one day internationals. To celebrate I drank this beer, which was brewed in support of the afore mentioned cricket team. The bottle was given to me after a party. I had commented on its finer points to the host and as there were a couple left over at the end, he palmed me this one. Best before 31st October 2007, drank 8th Sept 2007. Poured into a Corsendonk tulip. A good healthy colour, light brick red. The head which was off white soon left the glass leaving a collar and a central wispy covering. The aroma was of hops, yeast and barley, there was a splattering of ripe ’fruits of the forest’ too. The taste was half way between a good quality English Bitter and a fine Pale Ale. Bitter, but without any nastiness, full bodied without being overpowering, a well balanced beer. Very drinkable, this one was taken with a soft French cheese from Burgundy (Pie d’ Angloys) and salted biscuits, which is why the head legged it so quickly.

ambercolour , light hop touch of grassyness in nose, resh citric grassy hop, followed by low tone bitterness.

Ugly 500ml white bottle from Sainsburys. Amber with a white head; aroma is slightly surgical, a bit like the disinfectant smell of a hospital, but there are some hops in their somewhere; creamy and dry in the mouth at first, but a rich fruitiness develops; leaving a warm finish and a bitter orangeness.

Another spin off beer that was ultimately something of a disappointment, I’d just rated one of the Bombardier spin off’s. Picked this up in Sanisnburys at Swindon 10-04-07. A warm golden colour that took carbonation to a new level for an English Bottled Beer. Some sweet malt aroma but not that much, taste is something of nothing but more nothing than I’d expected, the higher alcohol level really didn’t do much for this at all it was just a poorer souped up version of a decent bottled ale, their was some resemblance to the orginal Pedigre in there but you had to look hard and this was one beer that I sort of drank and forgot about this, such was it’s impact.
