Draft at Spuyten as part of The Big Woody. Pours jet black with no head and some brown lacing. Nose if chocolate, and some honey sweetness. Tastes much of the same chocolate, some espresso, honey, light oak, and some bourbon notes more on finish as well. Alcohol is well hidden but these big beers catch up with me later in the day.

Bottle shared by Phatdog1. Snifter shows a thin tan head and extremely oily coating when swirled around the snifter. It smells really nice. Light bourbon, oak, chocolate and a large amount of sweetness from the honey. The flavor falls a bit short for me. The oily film that can been seen as you swirl the stout around the snifter also leaves a thick coating across your tongue and kind of makes the stout a cloying. The sweetness almost covers the bourbon, vanilla and chocolate flavors that people enjoy in a BBA stout. In no way is this a poor offering, I just think the honey was overdone causing the texture and flavor to be slightly off. I have no clue what more age could do to this and will not find out on my own.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Pours pitch black with a beige head. Sweet roasty nose with evident alcohol. Rich body, hardly any carbonation, sweet roastiness, slightly charred. Quite a boozy whisky feel but I don’t really pick up any Bourbon character. 271213

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours black with a dark tan head. Pleasant coffee aroma. With a touch of chocolate. Med plus body. Flavor of smooth burnt malt, vanilla, coffee and arguably chocolate. With time it gets bourbon and oak. Smooth and mellow finish.

Bottle, 375ml corked. It’s a pitch black beer, topped by a dense, tan head of moderate size. The aroma has honey, dark chocolate, coffee and some spiced hints. Quite sweet on the palate, with roasted malts, dark chocolate and a spiced hints. Don’t detect any honey, but there’s some bitterness going on. Full body, soft carbonation and with a little warmth. The finish goes on for a long while, it’s sweet and quite warming, with lots of roasted malts. Sure a pleasant one, although lacking a little bit to be world class. 131116
