Shared bottle on 24th Aug 2014 at the Midlands Meet. What a lovely beer. Slight haze to the almost black pour, small tan head. The aroma was sweet malty and with more than a hint of honey. The taste was more on the chocolate side with dark fruits flavours from the roasted malts: traces of both the honey and woody bourbon barreling added an extra dimension to this very drinkable brew.

Bottle @ Midlands Bottle Share, at Richies Hop Palace. Thanks to Rich. Pours deep black with an aroma of dark fruits and dulled woody bourbon. Taste is intense with chocolate, heavy dark malts, earthy notes and a slick mouthfeel. Very nice.

Bottle as shown thanks to John. Pours a very dark brown with beige head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is roast, smoke, dark chocolate. Sweet roast, light smoke, booze, good.

Tap at Mikkeller&Friends. Black with huge solid, lacing, light brown head. Aroma of coffee and choc. Mouthfeel is thick, flavour is licorice, oak, with distinct, well balanced, yet prominent bitterness. Honey sweetness, vanilla. Discrete bourbon. Long, bitter finish. Great.

Bottle, Beers of Europe. Well it sounded bloody good anyway and another great psych label. Deep dark brown pour with a small tan head. Roasted malt, choc and coffee present in the nose. Flavour was dark malt driven and had some dark fruit, honey and vanilla notes with some bourbon lurking in the shadows. Alcohol rather prominent. Decent but falls short of greatness.
