(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with bourbon, oak wood, raisins, toast, black rye bread, coffee, cacao, liquorice, honey and some orange peel. Malty, roasted taste with notes of liquorice, salmiak, oak wood, raisins, toast, coffee, honey, vanilla and a generous roasty, citric bitterness. Almost full body, with balanced sweetness. Possibly a bit unbalanced, but really tasty with lots of liquorice, honey and bourbon barrels. Nice one.

375 ml bottle. From 2012. Pours black with no head. Aromas of rich roasted malts, vanilla and bourbon. Flavors of cold black coffee, dry roasted malts and dry bitter dark chocolate. Super dry with ABV still present. Can still age more...

Smaksprøve fra Rune. Kullsort. Lavt farget bobleskum. God sjokoladearoma med hint av lakris. Oljeaktig munnfølelse. Rik smak med mye lakris. Et visst preg av tørr sherry. Langvarig tørr ettersmak. Utmerket øl!

375ml bottle with a black neck, topped by a cork and a wire cradle. Bubbly tan-coloured head, nice lacework on the glass. Black as pitch. Smell of cocoa, vanilla oak, mid-sweet. Taste of dark fruits, earth, biscuit and bourbon beneath it all. Drying aftertaste warming down the swallow. Likable Saturday night sipper at home in Tromsø, 25.04.2015.

Bottle split at Bruces pad - for the last time, thanks to Daniel, 27/03/15. Black topped with a moderate tan swirl. Nose is rich roast, herbal, spice, woody notes, dark fruit rinds. Taste comprises ashen tones, earthy roast, chocolate, herbal notes, light spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with warming alcohol tones. Ok but lower order for the style.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Daniel. Pours deep brown with a creamy beige head. The nose has some roast, fusel alcohol, burnt wood. Medium sweet flavor with some bitter dark chocolate, oily dark fruits, earth. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with more cocoa, burnt wood, more dark fruits. Pretty decent.

Bottle thanks to Dan. It pours jet brown with a small beige head. The nose is sweet, juicy, oily, apple brandy, sweet, syrupy, sticky and burnt rocky road. The taste is bitter-sweet, earth, charred wood, dirt, burnt sugar, rocky road, leather and ash with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Ok. So-so.

Bottle, a direct purchase from BOE shop/warehouse, Spechey, Kings Lynn, consumed at home Sunday 4th January 2015 Pours black with creamy beige/tan head. A little treacle on nose and also in mouth, in fact more treacle than honey, a bit fresh and fruity but dark roastiness. Thick in mouth, there is a little nod towards Bracia, but only a cursory nod, believe me it’s good, but it isn’t half as good as Bracia. Drinks easier than it should but if truth be known I am a little underwhelmed, sad really as I rate these breweries very highly. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4

pitch dark, smooth light brown head. bitter roasted malts, flowery honey notes, also wood, booze. in general a solid, bitter malty stout with sweet notes but nowhere near too sweet. This is really very very good. flavor is bitter roasted malty, metal, flowey, slightly nutty, flavor appears a bit thin compared to aroma. aftertaste is boozy bitter.
