Got in the mood for saison so decided to open one up from a classic saison brewery: Fantôme Dark White 4.7% Orange in color with a big thick beige head of foam. A catpiss, wheat, funk and mild spice aroma. Medium bodied with a soft mouthfeel, a bit of rich sweet honeycomb malt graham notes, funky, acidic, lemon meringue/egg tart and wheat cakes play as well in the dry finish. Tasty stuff, more challenging and complex than the Nanto one. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a relatively fresh 750 ml bottle. Aroma is fairly fruity with some red apple and pear. Medium light pepper notes with some light grain notes. Some nice Belgian esters and phenolics. Pours a light auburn color with some amber hues and a large, frothy, light tan head that recedes steadily to a thin film that lingers. Medium light lacing and no legs. Flavor has a medium light sweetness with a hint of acidity. Some light grain notes with quite a bit of red apple and pear notes. Light pepper and spicy phenolic notes. Medium low bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice, super fruity and ester forward beer. Some medium light phenolic notes and malt that compliments the fruity esters well.

Bottle, courtesy of SinH4, many thanks! Pours cloudy amber with a big head. Aroma is pig stables, yeast, pepper, saison, cork. Body is medium, strongly carbonated yet still really sweet. Pepper indeed, also phenolic fruity. Typically Fantome, but light at it. Good!

Bottle from Piwaregionalne.pl in Katowice.

I'm going to rate this high for its unique taste, lots of honey and spice for a Belgian ale.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 2018. Pours hazy reddish orange/copper color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lemon, apple, pear, peach, plum, apricot, fig, red/white grape, peppercorn, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, apple, pear, peach, plum, apricot, fig, red/white grape, peppercorn, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, light musty funk, and yeast earthiness. Moderate peppery/spicy bitterness and lightly tart/tangy yeast on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, apple, pear, peach, plum, apricot, fig, red/white grape, peppercorn, clove, caramel, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing thorough the glass. Medium-high carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth and creamy/grainy/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.7%. Overall this is and excellent dark saison. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Pours unclear blonde, good white head. Smell is fine, bitter, malty. Taste is rather bitter, malty. Bit dry. Nothing weird about it, which makes it a very weird fantome. Some peppery background. in balance. Not extremely good, but I like it.

75cl bottle from Dany at the brewery in Soy. Pours cloudy deep amber, frothy effervescent off-white head. Aroma is earthy, saison-esque spice. Taste is rich spice, red wine oak, mild sherry. Tastes a lot richer and stronger than 4.7%. Extremely flavoursome, kinda tastes red wine barrel-aged with added bretty complexity. Another cracker from Dany!
